We arrived at the compound in no time, after the initial shock of flying I wasn't really scared anymore, in fact it was really fun. Exhilarating even.
"We need to get you dressed into more suitable clothes." Jiro said. I raised an eyebrow at him.
"What do you mean?"
"Right now you wear the clothes of an outsider, it will help the others adjust if you wear something more like us." He explained. I nodded as he put me down. Jiro lead me down the hallway.
"Lord Jiro!" Two small children I recognized came running down the hallway towards him.
"Let's fight!" They said in unison excitedly. I looked at them closely a bit confused as to why they would choose this beast. Maybe Jiro was like they're trainer or something.
"Later." He said with an icy glare. I flinched expecting the children to cry or something but instead they smiled and said ok. I watched as they ran off in bewilderment.
"Come." Jiro said as I was spacing out. I nodded absentmindedly as I followed him. We soon reached a room, placed inside was a futon with a kimono laid ontop.
"This is your room now." He said as he turned around to leave. "Hurry up and change, I'll send someone to come get you afterward."
"Ok..." I said hesitantly. He left leaving me to my own thoughts. I still need to find Greg, maybe if I do better Jiro will let me go find him on my own.
"Umm...big sister?" A small voice from outside rang out.
"One sec." I replied as I finished putting on the kimono. "Ok come in."
The door slid open to reveal a small boy, actually it was the same boy I had saved the day before.
"Oh! Hi!" I said with a smile. At the sight of my smile he relaxed and stepped inside.
"Big sister thank you for the other day!" He said with a slight bow. I waved my hand in the air dismissively.
"Don't worry about it."
"No really! Actually my brothers and I feel really bad about not being able to better defend ourselves from those guys."
I frowned a bit confused, I didn't want to tell this kid not to worry about it since he was just a child for fear of offending him but still. He was just a child after all. After seeing the confusion on my face he continued.
"I know you might think that we're just kids but we're not...at least...what I'm saying is that we should be stronger." He said sheepishly.
"I see...well it's really great that you think that way but it's ok to accept help every now and then you know."
He simply smiled and nodded before running off. How odd, I mean I guess they are demons, after all I don't exactly know at what age they should be considered fully able to defend themselves.
"I see you're done changing." Jiros voice snapped me out of my thoughts.
"Ah...yeah..." I responded absentmindedly. He cocked his head puzzled at my response, he opened his mouth as if to say something but then closed it. I cleared my throat, "So what now?" I asked.
"Now we go look for your friend." Jiro said turning away. I stared for a second at his back stunned at his response.
"Excuse me what?" I asked.
"Do you not want to look for him?"
"Well yeah but honestly I didn't think you'd let me go look alone."
To that Jiro turned his head and frowned. "Who said anything about letting you go look for him alone? I'm going with you, don't forget our deal."
"Right..." I said feeling a little dumb at getting excited.
"Lord Jiro!" A voice rang from down the hallway. I peeked my head from behind Jiro to see another guy running towards us in a panic. "Lord Jiro..." He gasped as he tried catching his breath.
"What is it?" Jiro asked sounding somewhat annoyed.
"It's the Tengubi from Kanagawa, Lord Hishi is here and requests an audience with you."
At this news Jiro looked displeased.
"Wom-"
"It's Ritsu." I said grabbing his sleeve. "And it's alright go do what you have to do. I promise I won't run away."
Jiro smirked at my last words and nodded, "I promise we'll look for Greg when I'm done." I nodded.
From there Jiro followed the other Tengu down the hallway. I sighed wondering who or what the hell a Tengubi was but decided to stay out of it for now and question Jiro more later.
