My alarm clock starting ringing at 6:00, and being the role model l so aspire to be, I immediately got up and got dressed. The school bus would come in one hour. I had assumed that the school would be closed for a few days. Maybe in respect for Red, the neighbor who Toon Link found dead. Maybe so an investigation could be run without 70-something students lounging around. Maybe even to make sure the school was still safe. But no. I finished putting on my clothes for the incoming school day: A plain green shirt, green shorts, and brown boots. I'm not going to wear my hat today. If Toon Link can get away with wearing his pajamas to school, I can go to school with a bare head. Speaking of Toon Link, it was 6:50, and he wasn't awake, just like yesterday. I ate a small breakfast and drank a lot of milk. Milk is the most important drink of the day. More beneficial than water even. I wiped my face with a napkin, and checked to see if everyone was awake yet. It was 6:55. I had expected Toon Link to be walking around with his bedhead and pajamas by now. "I've been wrong all day." The only other Link who was awake was Link himself, and he was sitting on the couch texting somebody. Maybe Cloud. Maybe one of his ladyfans. 6:57. At this point I was agitated, and I stormed into Toon Link's room.

"Dude, get up!"

"No."

"Why not?"

"I'm traumatized."

I grabbed Toon Link with my hookshot and dragged him out of bed. I wish I could stuff him into an empty bottle and carry him to school in my backpack, but if I did that, Link would punish me for the rest of my life.

"Let me stay in bed! I don't want to go to school!"

What a baby. I hit him with the hilt of my sword until he stopped squirming. I felt bad about it, but he needs to go to school. Not because going to school is required by law, and not to keep him from missing his classes. I explained why, "Hey! Listen! We, and Lucas and Ness too, spent the entire school day yesterday in the security room. Do you know what that means?"

"That you don't have your precious perfect attendance?"

"No! Red was alive that morning, when we were in class. Then, we disappeared off the school's radar when we were in the security room. No one knew where we were, and no one knew where Red was when he was killed. If people put two and two together, they're going to think-"

"That we ditched class to kill Red!"
Toon Link finally caught on. He hurriedly prepared himself for school. I checked the time. 7:01. The bus comes at 7:00. Oh no. I ran to the living room and looked out the window. Link was on the bus, texting! He left us! "Toony! The bus is here!"

No, that was inaccurate. The bus was leaving! Toon Link ran to my side, and I threw the front door open. The bus was halfway out of our neighborhood. "Toony, come on!" I bolted after the bus, only checking behind me to see where Toon Link was.
"Don't I have to lock the door?"

"What!? No! Come on!"

This is why milk is vital. Toon Link and I sprinted after the bus, running as quickly as our little legs could take us. We weren't even in our neighborhood anymore, any random truck could come out of nowhere and run us the heck over. I felt an adrenaline rush, and with a speed boost, closed the gap between me and the bus! I extended my arm. The emergency door was right there. If I could just open it! I felt something cold pinch me in the back just as I was jerked away from the door. "Aaaagh!" I tumbled onto Toon Link! He had hookshotted me away from the bus! "Why, Toony?" At that moment, a car crashed into the back of the bus, exactly where I would've been if Toon Link hadn't pulled me away. I stared in shock. The car was destroyed, but the bus kept going even though there was a huge dent in the back of the bus. I would've been crushed between it and the car. Wow.
