Raising Money

Since there was no fifth period today, our fourth period science class with Mr. Olimar was our final class of the day. However, he wasn't in the classroom yet, so I pulled out my 3DS and played Smash 4 with Ness and Lucas. Before we could start a match, Inkling turned around in her desk and asked if she could join the game.

"Yeah, sure. But the roster for Smash 4 isn't as large as the one for Ultimate. You won't be able to play as yourself." I answered.

"That's fine." She booted up her game and joined ours. She stared at the roster for a few seconds before sliding her marker to Bayonetta.

"No. Wait. You can't use her." Ness interrupted, "She's overpowered."

"Ah. Got it." She slid her marker to Cloud.

"I'm pretty sure he's op too."

Annoyed, Inkling chose Samus. I never really looked at Samus before. The only character I ever played as was myself, and no one I played with used Samus either. She, he, I couldn't tell, resembled the orange and green suit of armor I saw in the hidden security room. I kept thinking about it as Ness selected the stage. Tragically, before we could even start fighting, Olimar entered the classroom.

"Ah shoot. We didn't even get to start." We discreetly shut the game off and hid our devices. Olimar waddled to his desk with a large box of chocolates. Ooh, they looked good!

Olimar announced that the school was going to have a fundraiser to make money for new full restore pills. According to his explanation, the pills would have to be expensively ordered from Nurse Joy, and then expensively delivered all the way across the country to our school. "And this fundraiser is mandatory. If you don't sell all the chocolates you're given, you'll be kicked out of the school." Olimar finished. He pulled several small boxes of chocolates out of his large box.

The class was the opposite of excited, and I could understand why. The school was abusing child labor. Even so, what really bothered me was that I couldn't eat the chocolate.

"Are there at least any prizes for selling the chocolate?" Inking inquired.

"Uh..." Olimar thought for a moment, "Whichever class sells the most gets a pizza party?"

That got the reaction Olimar probably wanted. Everyone leapt from their seats to grab a box of chocolates to sell. I casually stood up and took a box. If this was yesterday, I would've been super excited, but it's not yesterday. It's today, and I watched TV this morning and matured from it. I learned how lame fundraisers truly were.

Fortunately, I had a plan.

When school finally let out, all the freshmen energetically ran out the building to start selling. We didn't even take the bus home. We were way more enthusiastic about winning the pizza party than the older grades. I don't know why though. Pizza, like chocolate, is great. Ness and Lucas walked with me as a trio. "There are only so many houses in our neighborhood," I told them. "Each house is probably only going to buy from one of us, so we should take turns."

They agreed, and I was the first one up. I approached the first house and rang the doorbell. Someone stranger who I'd never met, probably an NPC-

I shouldn't be breaking the fourth wall. Something bad might happen.

-answered the door. "Would you like to buy a chocolate bar for two dollars?" I asked, trying my best to look "cute."

"Are you sure it's two dollars? It says one dollar on the box." The stranger said.

For the first time, I took a look at the box instead of its contents. He was right.

"Scammer." He slammed the door in my face. I returned to my trio.
