I was offstage, gimped out of jumps, and reaching out for the ledge. If I didn't make it in time, Dark Pit was going to spike me into the abyss below. It was at this moment, I wondered what I had done to get this point.
My alarm clock had gone off at 6:00, and the bus was scheduled to come at 7:00. That may seem like a proper time to get up, but I didn't crawl out of bed until 6:50. Oversleeping is a common trait between me and my brothers.
Not today apparently.
Young Link and Link burst into my room to see if I was ready, which I wasn't.
"Why aren't you dressed? The bus comes in ten minutes!" Young Link shouted.
"No need to yell, I'm awake. Watch this." I hurried into the bathroom to handle my hygiene. Young Link watched me, confident that I wouldn't be finished in ten minutes. I brushed my teeth, settled my bedhead, and applied deodorant.
"Seven minutes!" Link called.
I decided to wait and use the toilet at school. Rolling out of the bathroom, I pushed past Young Link and downed a bowl of Cinnamon Toast Crunch.
"Two minutes!"
I grabbed my master sword and hero's shield. My backpack was already prepared with everything else needed. I slung it on and dashed outside where Young Link and Link were waiting.
"Looks like you didn't finish." Young Link snickered.
"Nah, I'm done. I'm completely ready."
"What? Don't you have to put clothes on?" Young Link assumed as we boarded the bus.
I wasn't naked if that's what you're thinking. I was wearing my outset island clothes. I normally wear them as pajamas, but they pass as clothes. The outfit is a blue shirt marked with a lobster pattern, complemented by a pair of typical orange-ish brown pants. I told Young Link we should've bet rupees on my ability to be ready in ten minutes, and I sat down with my friends, Ness and Lucas.
"Nice outfit." Ness joked. "Did you oversleep?"
"I always oversleep."
Out of the 40 minutes it took for the bus to finally arrive at school, Ness had already defeated us in Super Smash Bros 4 3DS 19 times. In the final game, Lucas landed a PK freeze at the ledge, eliminating Ness.
"The winner is...Lucas!" declared the in game announcer.
"I can't believe it. PK freeze is so annoying!" Ness laughed.
I rebutted, "And that's coming from the person who spammed PK Fire, why?"
"Alright, that's fair. GG." Ness high fived Lucas when we were off the bus. Everyone stood outside the entrance to the school, even the Pokémon. The human/humanoid crowd consisted of people my age, people Young Link's age, people Link's age, and even people who were older than him. Normally, those four age groups would be seen as the four grades in a normal high school, but because we're video game characters, we don't age.
I probably shouldn't be breaking the fourth wall. Something bad might happen.
Master Hand silenced the crowd and gave his usual, "First Day of School" speech. I don't remember what he said. I've heard it before. Snake, Master Hand's student assistant, crouched down next to him. What came next is probably the funnest aspect of the assembly.
Snake, paper by paper, stuffed everyone's schedules into his missile launcher and hurled our schedules at us! He guided the missile papers around with his controller, so they never went to the wrong person, but whoever could catch theirs the earliest gained instant respect, even from the seniors. At least that's what Link told me. I had a plan. Master Hand announced my name, and I scurried through my backpack to find a doppel. The schedule came towards me, but it was too high for anyone who couldn't fly to catch at the moment. I needed to get high. It came closer. I emptied my backpack, bow, boomerang and all, to find my doppel. I saw it. I activated him, and he lifted me into the air.
