The New Girl

Part 1

Olivia POV:
Hi! My name is Olivia and I am 13 years old. This is what I look like

Today is the big day! Abby is having an open call audition for a spot on her junior elite competition team at the aldcla. I am so nervous! My best friend Ellie and I are going to be auditioning together.
When I get out of bed, I look at the time and see that it is already 9 and the audition starts at 10:30. I quickly run downstairs and eat breakfast and then I go and get ready. I put on my dance clothes and put my hair in a bun. Once I am ready, I go into the car to wait for my mom, Lindsey.

When my mom gets into the car she starts to drive to Ellie's house and we talk about the day.

M: how are you feeling about the audition?
O: I'm really excited but I'm also really nervous.

We than arrived at Ellie's house and I told her we were there

I than see Ellie coming to our car
O: hey bff
E: Hey livie
O: you excited?
E: I'm so scared! Abby seems so intense
O: I know! But she's probably a really good teacher

After what feels like forever, we arrived at the studio. Ellie and I run into the studio and I am in awe. I always see the studio on tv and it is so surreal to be seeing it in person. I am knocked back to reality when I hear Abby's booming voice.

A: dancers! Go get a number and than come into studio b.

Ellie and I go and get our numbers. I am 15 and Ellie is 16. We look around and see that there are so many people here, there are at least 200. I see people warming up and there are so many amazing dancer here. Ellie and I walk into studio b and start stretching out. I get into my center split and just sit there until Abby comes in.

A: hi everyone! I am so excited that all of you are here. I am looking for another member of my junior elite team. I need a dancer that could do everything and has the look. You also have to be able to pick up choreography fast. That being said, good luck dancers!

Giana than comes in and teaches a combination. It is sort of challenging and it is a very technical piece but I pick it up quickly. Twenty minutes later Abby comes in and tells us to do the combination. I than hear Abby calling off numbers

A: 17, 120, 178, 35 go back to your mothers.

A little while later, I look around and notice that it is only Ellie, another girl, and me.

A: congrats girls, you have made it to the final round of the auditions. I want to see you girls improv starting with #16. I don't want just tricks!

Abby plays the song domino and Ellie starts to improv. She was doing really well but than she fell out on one of her turns. I felt so bad for her but Ellie finished the improv strong.

A: nice job, #47 your turn

The other girl starts improving and she was just doing tricks. She was doing them well but she was doing what Abby told us not to do. By the time I know it it's my turn to go.

A: your turn #15

I than improved and put my heart into it. I wanted this so bad. I made sure to point my toes and have perfect technique.

Once I finished I got back in line with the others.

A: #16 and #47 step toward

I than thought that she was going to cut me but than she said

A: you girls can go, thank you

I than realized that I was the only person left and I go so excited.

A: what's your name hun?
O: Olivia Wilson
A: how old are you?
O: 13
A: can you go get your mother for me?
O: sure

I than run outside of the room and to my mother

O: I got the spot! Come with me!
M: congrats hun. Show me where to go

I bring my mom back to Abby and they start talking

A: Olivia is an amazing dancer
M: thank you! She's a really hard worker too.
A: great! I want you guys to come on Monday to pyramid at 9.
O: miss Abby I want to thank you so much for this opportunity and I want to let you know that I won't let you down
A: I'm excited to have you here! See you on Monday
