Just a Dream

But it turned out that the whole thing was only a dream. Amber and James were still sleeping in the tent in his room, and they woke up hastily.

"We're back in my room?" James gaped. He and Amber crawled out of the tent to find that they were indeed in his room.

"We're right back where we were before Daddy wished for our mother to be alive," Amber said.

James saw that Amber was wearing Sofia's amulet—and it was back to ruby pink. "Amber, the Amulet!" he pointed out.

Amber saw that she was indeed wearing Sofia's amulet. "The Amulet turned back to pink," she realized. "Could everything be back to normal?"

"Let's find out," James said.

After the twins changed, they hurried to the dining hall, where they saw their parents. Lorelei was gone, and Miranda was right there, wearing her pink dress.

"Mom!" Amber and James beamed. They ran over and hugged their stepmother tightly.

"Good morning," Miranda smiled.

"We're so glad you're here," James smiled.

"Couldn't be happier," Amber agreed.

"Is that so?" Miranda asked.

Suddenly, Sofia's voice rang out, "Good morning." She entered the dining hall, wearing her purple and pink dress.

"Sofia!" Amber and James cried. They ran over and hugged their sister.

"Hey, guys," Sofia giggled.

"You don't know how happy we are to see you," James said.

"We just had the most horrible dream," Amber said. "Daddy used his last wish in the Wishing Well to bring our birth mother back to life."

"What's wrong with that?" Sofia asked.

"The wish went completely wrong," James replied. "The minute it came true, it undid everything that happened since you became a princess. I was heir to the throne, Aunt Tilly never met Sir Bartleby—let alone married him—Hildegard was still acting like a know-it-all, she wouldn't let Clio go to the Performing Arts Academy, Hugo was Amber's boyfriend and never became a flying derby champion or took up ice-dancing, Axel was bullying him very badly, and Princess Elena was still trapped inside the Amulet of Avalor!"

"Whoa," Sofia gaped.

"Yes, it would be nice to have our birth mother back, but it's not worth making everything back to how it was before you were our sister," Amber said.

"Dad, we don't want you to divorce Mom," James told his father. "We want everything to stay the way it is."

Roland and Miranda were touched that the twins wanted everything the way it is, and they weren't sure if anything of this would really happen. But it was best to not take a chance.

"Okay, my marriage with Miranda stands," Roland smiled.

The twins cheered, happy that everything was staying the way it is.

"I believe this is yours, Sofia," Amber said. She took off the Amulet and put it back on Sofia. "I'll give back every tiara you returned."

James took out Sofia's tiara and put it on her.

"Thanks," Sofia smiled

"Thanks," Sofia smiled.

After breakfast, Amber gave Sofia her tiaras back.

"I'm so happy that you're staying," Amber smiled.

"Me, too, but do you really think all that would happen if Dad brought your mother back to life?" Sofia asked.

"I don't know, but I don't want to take any chances," James said.

"Me neither," Amber declared.

James turned to Sofia's bed and saw a picture of her with Hugo. He realized that not everything was back to normal yet. "I think there's one thing we have to fix," he said.

Roland, Miranda, Amber, James, and Sofia went to Hugo's palace to fix the relationship. Amber and James explained how they changed their minds and how Hugo would've turned out had Sofia never decided to help him.

"Wow, Hugo never said anything that harsh even before he was friends with Sofia," Axel gaped.

"Mom and Dad did have some arguments in front of me at that time," Hugo admitted.

"Well, I don't care what would've happened if our mother was alive now—we just want everything to stay the way it was," Amber said.

"Yeah, that wish is not worth making any of our friends miserable or forget they ever met Sofia," James agreed.

Sofia took Hugo's hands, looked into his eyes, and asked, "What do you say, Hugo? Do you want to get back together?"

Hugo smiled at Sofia and said, "I wouldn't have it any other way." He and Sofia kissed each other on both cheeks and hugged tightly—their relationship was officially restored.

Later, Hugo took Sofia to the jewel room of his palace.

"What are we here for, Hugo?" Sofia asked.

"This is where I put your Enchantlet, earrings, and tiaras yesterday," Hugo replied. He opened a box containing Sofia's jewelry. He took out Sofia's Enchantlet and put it on her wrist, and then he put the ruby earrings on her ears.

"Thanks," Sofia smiled.
