Vera's POV
*******************************************
I stood back to admire my completed work. It was absolutely magical, and probably the best thing that I have ever painted. My stomach growled angrily as I was cleaning up, so I decided to go to the cafe and bring Asya her phone. As I stepped outside, I was overwhelmed with a familiar dark feeling. It passed as quickly as it came, but fear seemed to linger. I immediately noticed that Asya's car was parked in the driveway, but there was no sign of her. That's strange. Where could she be?
I got in my car and decided to see if she caught a ride with someone to work. I kept telling myself not to panic until I'm positive that she was taken. I pulled into the cafe parking lot and hurried inside of the building. I recognized a waitress and waved her over to me.
"Hey Vera. What's up?" Katerina said with a small smile.
I tried to mask the panic in my voice. "Did Vera come in to work today?" I asked, my voice sounding a little shaky.
"No, actually I was going to ask if you had seen her. We tried calling and texting, but we didn't get a response. Is everything okay?"
"Everything's fine." I replied. "I'm going to go look for her." Before she could respond I jetted to the car. My heart was racing and my adrenaline was kicking in. Where the hell is she? Suddenly I remembered her phone. I found it on the floor, cracked. That should have been a red flag.
I returned home quickly, examining the house for signs of a break in. As I was examining the window that has been left open, i noticed something strange. Blood. I ran to Asya's room, jerking the comforter away from the bed. Her pillows and comforter were blood stained as well.
Shaking, i pulled my phone out of my pocket and began to dial the familiar numbers.
"9-1-1 what's your emergency?"
My voice cracked as I spoke. "My friend has been abducted. Please send help immediately."
I quickly gave her my address and phone number.
It took an hour for the police to finally arrive at my house. I recognized the two officers as they entered into the cottage. I greeted them solemnly, wiping tears from my eyes.
"Please follow me." I said. They followed close behind as I opened the door to Asya's room. I showed them the blood stained sheets and they took samples of them. I also showed them the blood on the window, watching them gather additional samples. After they collected the blood, i handed them her phone, explaining exactly where I found it.
"I need you to tell us exactly what happened." The first officer said.
"I have no idea what happened. I was asleep and when I woke up she was just gone. I thought she was at work. I even went to ask if she had come in, even though her phone and car were both here. I thought maybe she was in a hurry, and she dropped her phone and got someone to pick her up for work. I didn't realize there was blood on the sheets until I got back." I explained.
"And when was the last time you spoke to her?" The policeman asked. I thought back to last night, when she invited the stranger to the house. "Last night. She invited some guy over to the house. I had no idea who he was. Do you think he might have had something to do with this?"
The policeman exchanged glances. "Can you give us his name?" They asked.
"He said his name was Casper." I told them.
"Does he have a last name?" The other cop asked me.
"I didn't get his last name. I'm sorry sir."
The first cop vigorously scribbled the information on his notepad.
"Thank you very much ma'am. We will send out a missing person's alert, and begin the investigation. We will update you with news whenever it comes."
Whenever it comes? How long is this going to take? She could be dead by now.
I nodded, ushering them outside. If they aren't going to do anything about it, I'm going to have to find Asya myself.

Ren's POV
*******************************************"What's wrong brother?" I teased. "Why the sad puppy dog eyes."
"Drop it Ren. I'm not in the mood today." He replied grumpily.
"Girl trouble?" I asked, pushing him further.
"I said drop it." He snapped. I could see his blood boiling inside of his veins.
"Where is the little mate? I didn't see you bring her into the castle." Casper sighed angrily and turned to me.
"I brought the wrong girl." He confessed, his face falling. A mischievous smile spread across my face. He glared at me as I burst into laughter.
"The wrong girl? They look completely different. How could you possibly have gotten confused?" I laughed.
"It was dark." He said reluctantly.
"So wolfy sight isn't as good as fey sight?" I pondered. "That's interesting."
"Just leave me be. I don't want to talk about it anymore."
"Well if she isn't your mate. What did you do to her after you bit her and drug her out of her home?"
"I gave her to the pack. She's useless to me." He growled. My eyes widened.
"You just threw her away? Wow you're worse than me. I mean, I kick my women out when I get tired of them, but at least I don't change them into a different species and throw them quite literally to the wolves."
Ren turned and angrily stalked away. "Go to hell." He replied as he turned the corner. I smiled to myself.
So, it appears that my favorite human girl really belongs to my half-brother. How cliché. But could I really let her be with the monster that turned her best friend and sent her to live with the wolf pack? Absolutely not. However, I couldn't let him have her anyway, because frankly I am just a selfish bastard.
