Vera's POV
********************************************
I tore myself out of the dream. Everything seemed to be spinning. Before I knew it, my body went limp, and I fell. Someone caught me before I could hit the cold dungeon floor. I glared at him as I gathered my strength."So this wasn't a dream?" I snapped, snatching my arms away as soon as I found my footing.
"It's called entrancement." He replied casually. "It's a simple summoning perk that comes with the bond. You may have felt as if you were dreaming, but I was calling upon you."
"You did this? You brought me here against my will?" I raged.
"Call it whatever you want, love. That's the true strength of the mate bond."
"And does it work both ways?" I questioned. "Do you feel pain when I'm hurting? Can I force you to sleep walk to wherever in the hell I am?"
"Unfortunately, I can feel your pain as well as your pleasure." He glared into my eyes.
"That's fucked up." I countered.
"Extremely." He agreed. "Especially since I am not the current source of your pleasure."
"That's none of your business." I snapped.
"In fact it is. Do you know how long I have been saving myself for you?" He asked.
"I never asked for that." I said instead.
"My entire life." He finished.
"Do you know how heartbreaking it is to lose my mate to my own brother?" He continued.
"Ren saved my life, multiple times. I care for him. You have only brought destruction and pain into my life." I spat.
"Ren has slept with every faery girl in the kingdom. He is a whorish prince, and a toxic lover. If you think that he won't cast you aside the second another woman meets his eye.-"
"What?" I asked in a small voice.
"Oh, he hasn't reminisced about his past to you of course. I'm sure he wouldn't let you to see right through his bullshit."
"How do I know that you're telling the truth?" I demanded.
"I'll show you." He placed his forehead against mine, visions of faery women flipped through my mind. There were things that were too painful to watch.
"Stop!" I screamed.
"Ow." Casper said, pulling away and rubbing his head. "You burned me."
I looked up at the mark on his forehead.
"How did you do that?" He asked.
"I don't know." I replied. "Ever since I was brought into this realm, strange things have been happening. I know spells and I can do things that I've never been able to do before." Why am I telling him this? Is the mate bond already so strong that I want to confide in him?
"Vera. Listen to me. We have to get out of here." He pleaded. "We need to get to the pack. They will know how to protect us from the high fey."
"I don't trust you." I snapped. "I don't think that I will ever be able to trust you.
"Do you want to know about your powers?" He questioned. "Because I can help you. Together we can figure out who you are."
"I know who I am." I said, standing. "And I know exactly what you're trying to do to me." I stepped out of the cell and channeled the energy in the room. I watched as the bars began to bend back into place. "Do not call upon me again."
