Oliver wasn't sure why he thought listening to Leo and letting Harry in was a good thing to do. He only knew at that moment, he regretted it. Since he was generally a compassionate person, this wasn't the norm for him. However, Harry had been finding ways to get on his nerves since last night, so this was to be expected.
"Will you please stop that?" Oli sighed for the fourth time, as he shifted yet again away from Harry's foot. "No. I am bored, it is your job to entertain me." Harry replied as he stretched out his leg again, to press his toes a bit painfully into the back of Oli's ribs. Oli huffed slightly and stood up. Rubbing his ribs, he walked over to the cupboard where the animal's food was kept. As he served it, he could hear Lou and Amistad in the second room barking and whining. Sunflower was a pretty quiet cat, but even she was becoming restless. As he carried the bowls of food to the animals, he saw Harry still sitting on the couch. Once he fed the animals, Oli gave them fresh water. After that, he decided to take Amistad for his walk a bit earlier than usual. They walked for about fifteen minutes, before he became stubborn and plopped on the sidewalk, refusing to take another step.
When they got back, Oli was carrying the dog. He put him down when he got into the apartment, and turned to where Harry stood in the kitchen. "What are you doing?" Oli yelped as he watched Harry rummage through the drawer. "Looking for a thing to cut with." Oli paled and shifted away from him slightly. "Okay. But why?" Harry didn't answer, he just kept digging through the drawer. "What do you need it for?" Oli questioned again when Harry didn't answer, takin a few hesitant steps closer to the other man before halting. Harry opened his mouth to answer, but Amistad came trotting across the floor to them. Oh fudge. Oli thought as he hurriedly knelt to scoop the happy dog up. Amistad panted and licked Oli's cheek, his whole body wagged with his excitement. As he turned back to where Harry still stood, his lips trembled in a mix of amusement and slight fear, when he saw a sharpie and scissors in one hand and a roll of purple duct tape in the other. "Harry? What... What are you doing with those?" Oli questioned hesitantly as he gazed at theman. "Nothing. Yet." He replied. Oli looked from Harry to the still happy Amistad in his arms, trying to think of a way to break the tension without suffering bodily damage due to scissors or whatever other sharp instruments he may have been able to find.
"Do you want to try holding Amistad? He likes people." Harry scowled at Oli, then softened slightly. "If I hold that now, you never ask me to hold it again. Is that clear?" As Oli nodded, he moved closer so he could place the Beagle in Harry's arms. Once he set down the items in his hands, Harry got a slightly rough grip on amistad. Despite Oli's protests and attempts to correct it. The awkward and tight grip on his shoulders and haunches, caused the dog to tilt on to his back slightly. He didn't mind it though. He just stretched out, still wagging his tail and expecting belly rubs. Despite everything else, Oli saw this as a positive thing. This meant that Amistad could be handled by children, without becoming upset by some of their occasionally rough treatment. This would increase his chances of adoption, as well as open more opportunities for him to meet different families.
After a few minutes, Harry got his attention again. "Here. I'm done with this." He said as he pressed the Beagle into Oli's chest. Oli just barely had time to get a grip on the animal, before Harry let go. Stroking the soft fur on The dog's back, Oli walked to the second room and set him down inside. Swinging the door shut just enough, that he would not be able to easily walk back out again. As he walked back to the kitchen, he glanced at the clock. 4:45 flashed back at him.
Great, he thought as he started chopping vegetables for chicken salad. I have to work tomorrow, and I have a crazy guy in my apartment. Maybe they'll let me bring Amistad with me tomorrow? Oli really doubted that though. But he didn't know what else to do. He just knew that he could not leave the dog and cat alone with Harry again.
