Act 1: Setting the scene 

Shrek stares out the window of his small apartment in Durrhem, a small mining town currently affected the miner's strike of 1984, "I'll never be as pretty as the other boys," he says as he effortlessly tosses his blonde hair into a messy bun. As he walks into the kitchen to make his 72nd ice coffee of the day, because he needs to balance out his quirkiness, he hears a knock at the door. "Hello," he yells out, "who is it?" A small voice coming from a person who he could assume was a male yells back, "it's your son, Donkey." Shrek opens the door to see his son standing in the doorway shivering from the cold, "how was dance son," he asks him, Donkey looks away before meeting his eyes again, "yeah dance was good," he says quickly as he walks past his father and approaches his room. He sees the coffee Shrek was just about to drink on the kitchen counter, "Dad you need to stop your coffee addiction, it's tearing this family apart, mum left us because of this," Donkey says as he looks at his father with sad eyes, he proceeded to shut his door and his father out of his life.

The next day:

"bye dad i'm off to foo- dance," Donkey says as he quickly leaves his house in a rush to get to dance on time, little did his father know he was secretly attending football lessons. Donkey's mother, Rainy Rodriguez, and his grandmother, Thotiana, were both professional football players, but in Shrek's swamp it is not acceptable for boys to play football. Boys do dance, gymnastics and cheerleading, not frigging football. Rainy Rodrigeuz  always encouraged Donkey to be himself and would've let Donkey pursue his dreams of being a professional football player, however, Donkey's mother left him and his father 2 years ago because of Shrek's coffee addiction.

Shrek waves to his son as he leaves to attend his secret football lesson, but Shrek didn't know that. Shrek proceeds to make yet another coffee since beforehand he had only had 30 coffees and it was already 9am. Shrek sits on his couch with his new cup of coffee and looks out the window, it was raining, "we're all gonna die, what's the point," he sighs and gets up from his couch and proceeds to play just dance on his wii.

A few hours later:

Donkey arrives home covered in mud. "What the hell happened to you?" Shrek says as he applies his red lipstick, "Why are you covered in mud, girls don't like boys who are dirty." Donkey sighs as he heads to the bathroom to clean himself up, "I fell over while walking home," he says quietly not daring to make eye contact with his father.
