Lottie grabbed a piece of paper and a pen from a small desk in her room. She had been moved there when she had agreed to join them. It wasn't comforting but it was enough.

She wrote:

Dear Ellie and Jamie,

I am at the leviathan base, but their security is now super intense. The fence is now a wall and they have doubled their guards. Don't worry about me, I have had to pretend to be one of them. Jamie, look after Ellie.

From Lottie.

She wrote this in maravish.

"So, trying to send a secret message to your friends?" Ingrid purred.

"No, it's telling them that I have joined you and they should too!"

"Good, good," she smirked, "why is it in maravish?"

"So no one else can read it."

"Smart," Ingrid picked up the letter, "I'll post this for you."

"Thank you."

Ingrid still intimidated Lottie, her thick black boots with heels so sharp they could cut, her eyes glinting with mischief. Lottie shuddered. It was scary here. But Lottie didn't have a choice, she had to stay here to protect her friends. Ellie and Jamie could make their way without her, but could she make her way without them?
