Mercy Killing

I watched her lay on the floor
Cringing, clutching her core
Writhing in pain, desperate to cry
Yet no tears would come off
No matter how hard she tried

So I killed her; I slashed her wrists
But she stayed alive even as she bleeds
I drowned her with pills and alcohol
And in that painful process
She vomited her soul.

She woke up, but she was gone
She breathed but her senses were numb
I am ending her life one day at a time
As she searched for a reason
I will give her mine.

Dressed in mercy, I stole her heart
To kill her, I must tear her apart
As she gasped in pain, she closed her eyes
She counted to death
With a final sigh.

She was dead and I breathed at her nose
Giving her the breath of life I chose
Thawed her heart and placed it on her chest
The beat was different;
She awakened from her death.

As her wounds started to heal
Her eyes blinked; she smiled in tears
In her thawed heart, love started to grow
And the first to taste the fruit
Was her new found soul.
