▪︎▪︎▪︎Potions class started with Snape complaining about the O.W.L.s explained how important they are. He then proceeded by assigning them quite a difficult potion.
The Draught of Peace was extremely difficult but how can Snape be Snape if he didn't try to make his students give up on life.
The ingredients had to be put in the right time and order and measurements, the mixture had to be stirred the right number of times and in the right directions that changed a couple of times.
In the end, all the students had to hand in their potion in a labelled flask. Gwen frowned at the acid green colour instead of the dull beige that it should be. Her failed potion caught the attention of Snape and some Slytherins who all snickered at the sight of it.
Later that day Gwen also had Arithmancy without any of her friends. Arithmancy was a difficult subject and Gwen had to work hard to keep up.
Gwen barely achieved a high enough mark to pass the class. She wasn't even sure why she choose the subject in the first place.
Gwen later had her first Defense Against the Dark Arts lesson with Professor Lupin who proved that he was more than capable to do his job. He was better than all the teachers they had in the past combined.
The lesson also started with a small lecture about the O.W.Ls but the rest of it was a practical one.
After learning that the students were barely taught anything in the previous years, Professor Lupin decided to teach some defensive spells for them to try out.
Gwen also nearly slept during History of Magic along with the rest of the class. Gwen knew that the story of it all was probably exciting but Professor Binns managed to bring the subject to death.
She spent half an hour asleep and the other half aiming spitballs at the twins with Lee.
The last lesson of the day was Herbology, another subject that Gwen wasn't good at. Gwen was terrible with plants, magical or not. She couldn't even keep a cactus alive.
All she knew about Herbology was that she needed to pass it somehow.
When dinner time arrived Gwen was completely knackered. She heard the news about Hagrid's first-class which didn't go well at all.
Apparently, Hagrid brought Hippogriffs for his first lesson and one managed to attack Draco Malfoy. Apart from the fact that Hagrid might get in trouble, Gwen felt ecstatic that he was getting what he deserved.
"You know that sucks," Gwen stated as she dropped the chicken leg bone on her empty plate. "I mean, we haven't even got the chance to see the Hippogriffs because Malfoy had to screw everything up."
"Well, what do you expect? It's Malfoy we're talking about." Angelina said while rolling her eyes.
"You know what, I congratulate that Hippogriff for having the balls to do what we all wanted to do to Malfoy," Alicia admitted through gritted teeth. Gwen nodded in agreement and reached out for one of the chocolate muffins in front of her.
The twins, Lee, Angelina and Alicia all raised their goblets and clanked the glasses together. Gwen laughed and raised her own goblet and clanked it with the others.
The group went back into their common rooms after the feast. Gwen's Prefect duties with Cedric weren't for another hour so Gwen stayed chatting with the group, excluding Angelina, while doing her homework.
"So, that spell that you talked about. You know the one that turns things invisible, do you have it with you?" Fred asked the busy girl. Gwen looked up and set her quill down on her table. "It's upstairs in my trunk. I'll go get it for you."
