"I know that these past few days, I haven't been talking to you and treating you well. I'm sorry for that" he took a moment to pause.

"You're a girl" he stopped, staring at Addy, searching for the right words, "I mean, what do you say if we have dinner tonight?" he asked after swallowing his ego.

Addy almost choked on her own saliva Her eyes widened. A dinner? Her mind went blank as she was uncertain to what it meant. Surely it is not a date. Maybe it's going to be a work related meal– again. Her mind wandered. She smiled awkwardly but before she could say anything, Toby cut her off

"It's not a date. It's uh. To–make up for how I treated y– you" he stammered before he continued "it's just two colleagues trying to get to know each other. I feel like I'm interested in you and I want to invest my time in getting to know you" he said. It would be great if it was a date but Toby worried if he said that it was a date then Addy probably didn't want to go out with him.

Wow that came out of nowhere, Addy thought, "hm. If it's not a date then fine, I'll go. But it's not formal, too, is it?"

"No. It's just a casual night with a fellow colleague"

"Uh. Okay. What time do we—"

"I was thinking, 7 o'clock should be perfect. I'll pick you up. Just text me your address later" he said with excitement as his eyes lit up, but he soon compose a normal expression not to look too happy.

Addy was rather speechless with his change of behaviour, intonation and expression in split seconds but she doesn't judge.

DING DONG- the doorbell rang just as soon as Addy finished her everyday make up touch– a little bit of face cream, mascara and lipstick. She doesn't like to get heavy make ups on her face. She opened the door to look at Toby, who looked so incredibly and especially handsome that night as he wore a dark coloured long sleeve shirt, he folded his sleeve up to below his elbow, showing off his veiny hands. Paired with navy blue jeans. He looked as attractive as ever.

Toby greeted her with his sweet smile and showed out his hands like a gentleman he always has been. Addy took his hands and walked out of her flat after locking the door. They walked to Toby's car and he opened the passenger's door for Addy. It would be a lie to say if Addy wasn't slightly fluttered but she she didn't want to get her hopes high as this was not a date.

"How are you doing?" He asked as he started to drive. The silence took in for awhile as Addy didn't know how to answer the sudden question. He continued "you know, this is what life has in stored for people like us, quite a hectic schedule–really. So, how are you coping with it?"

"Uh. I'm okay. I can adjust rather quickly. Much quicker than you would've thought. I'm actually getting used to this type of schedule. It's.. no biggie" she stopped and dropped her jaw when she realized what she said. She turned away from Toby and squinting her eyes shut out of embarrassment and prayed to lord that Toby wouldn't hear her or thought about her poor choices of words. She thought maybe she should clear that part out.

"Okay. I– I'm sorry. I meant not a big problem. I really just have the poorest choices of words. I lack the communication skills when talking to people"

"Then how would you talk to clients? You do know that part of being a law student, you need to have good communication skills, don't you?" Toby asked. It was a serious question but there was no judgement from his tone— just genuine curiosity.

"Well. I have this mindset that clients and other people are different groups of people, therefore I'll have no problems talking to clients or convincing them, even"
