DING- the sound of the message woke Addy up. She squinted her eyes to look at the screen and saw Toby's name.
"Hey, awake yet? If so, lets get breakfast"
"I just woke up, what time would you want to go?"
"I'm already outside. I'll wait. I don't mind. I'm fully aware most women take an awful long time to get ready"
Addy jumped at the message she got.
"He's already outside?" Addy mumbled to her self and went to the window to sneak a look for Toby and it didn't disappoint her. He's there, outside of his car, leaning his body against it with arms crossed. Looking at him, her heart picked up it's pace. She took a step back and ran to shower and get ready as simple as possible. She didnt even put on the mascara she loves. She only put on her face cream and lipstick.
"Morning, sweetheart, it doesn't take long at all waiting for you" Toby greeted and opened her door for her.
"Morning. Sweetheart? And would you rather wait longer than you had to wait?" Addy asked in confusion but Toby only answered with a shrug.
"We're going to Breakfast Club Spitalfields by the way"
"Yes, uh, I've never been there" Addy confessed. She's never been the kind of girl who goes out daily except to go to work, buy groceries, or go to parks to enjoy the beautiful nature.
"You're going to love it, it serves both American and English breakfast. The atmosphere is nice too"
The car was filled with music from the radio and a little sing along from Toby and Addy. When they arrived at the venue, Toby opened the door for Addy, they sat at a table next to the window so they could enjoy the brilliant street view from inside the restaurant, it looked like a countryside and it felt as if they were on a vacation. The place was retro, had quirky feel, and cosy environment Toby raised his hand to call the waitress and ordered their food. The waitress served the egg benedict with fried chicken, berries, maple & syrup pancakes, with a smile on her face and was really kind. Toby gave her some generous tip. They dilly dallied on eating their breakfast.
"So, I know yesterday I told you I'm interested in you and wanted to know more about you. But last night we didn't really talk"
"But we did had a fun night, now didn't we?"
"That we did. But we didn't get to know more about each other last night, so you still owe me"
"Fine. What would you want to know"
"Tell me anything"
So Addy did tell him, from the most trifles to the most complex of her personality, and life experience and Toby did the same. They were surprised by how much they had in common. They have the same humour level, which is very important to both of them as they both do like a good laugh. It explains why Addy didn't want to go home from the comedy carnival. They spent their breakfast with eating scrumptious food and having a good laughter learning sbout each other. Though the atmosphere did grew cold when Addy mentioned about her parent's history which resulted in her lack of love desire.
"Why, I'm sorry that your father, and your mother's boyfriends were awful to you but I assure you. Not every man is like that, if you just open your heart and-"
"I'm aware of the fact that not every man is the same. I forgot to mention my bestfriend, Morgan. He was the one who opened my eyes and changed my perspective on men"
"Your.. bestfriend is a male?"
"Yes. Why?"
"Oh nothing"
Addy knew that the fact that she had a male bestfriend somewhat triggered Toby, she waited awhile for him to say whatever that was bothering him but he didn't. So Addy decided to let it slide. They continued talking and it was Toby's turn to speak. They were there for an awful long time until they finished their food. The restaurant employees were nice enough to open the doors for them and their service was great. They liked it there, from the food, to the street view from inside of the restaurant, to the walk to the car, it all felt as if they were on vacation going on a morning stroll in the beautiful city.
"I feel like I grew up with you now"
"Don't flatter yourself. I grew up with Morgan"
The car was filled with silence as soon as those words left Addy's mouth. Addy couldn't help but felt guilty as this was the second time she felt him uncomfortable.
"Can I ask you something?"
"Sure what is it?"
"Why do you always- well, not always. But everytime I speak of Morgan, you'd be oddly silent about it. Judging by what I know of you, it's not like you to not have a comeback."
"To answer that question, I'd have to tell you why I had been avoiding you these few days" he paused and glanced at Addy.
"I don't think it's the right time yet"
"And when exactly will the time be right?"
"I don't know. But just not right now. I'll tell you soon enough, love"
Their ears were once again filled with songs from the radio and breathing sound from their own until Toby neglected to make a right turn–which was the way to Addy's home.
"Why didn't you make the turn?"
"Oh sorry love, you have yet to go home. We're going someplace else"
"But I'm not wearing any decent clothes. What if the weather turned cold–"
"Not to worry sweetheart, I've prepared an extra coat with me"
"But is it even my size?
"Well if anything, you needn't worry. I'm known for my observant trait. I know what size you wear, but the ones that I brought was my size. As I said, you needn't worry. You'll look adorable in it"
"Adorable? I'm an adult"
"Sweetheart, it has nothing to do with age"
Toby asserted as he slowed his driving to find a parking.
"This doesn't feel familiar. I've never been here" anither confession from Addy.
"Not to worry. It's just some garden. You'll see"
They entered the garden and was mesmerized by the view. The garden was full of colourful plants, shrubs and water features, created by eminent Japanese designer. As soon as they entered the garden's entrance, Addy's foot became light as a feather. The next thing you know is Addy jumping up and down slightly as she walked.
"I thought you said you were an adult"
"Well. This garden brings out the kid in me. You're the one who brought me here. Bear with my childlike behaviour, yeah?"
"Okay" Toby said as he smiled with spark in his eyes.
"This garden is–"
"Beautiful"
"Yes, it is"
"No, you are"
Those words left Toby's mouth before he even realised it. They were both taken aback by what Toby had said. There were looks of remorse in Toby's expression, fearing he'd make Addy uncomfortable but he couldn't help it anymore. He's surpressed his emotion long enough. Before he knew it, his feet was trudging towards Addy with both his hands on her cheeks. He paused to look at Addy's confused face and then slowly tilt his face a little so that his lips could touch Addy's. It was a long, passionate and beautiful moment together.
