Griffin Harris
Damien and I continued to walk the halls to our next class. Unfortunately, we wouldn't be together again until 8th period. It was a B-day, so we only shared 2 classes together today. Which meant I would be surrounded by my so-called "friends."
"AYO, GRIFFIN!"
My eye twitched.
Bruh, it's 9:15 AM; who's yelling my name this early in the damn morning? Damien and I turn in the direction where the voice came from. We found a small group of our teammates on the basketball team gathered against the wall.
I resisted the urge to kiss my teeth. Ah, my "friends"...
Damien and I walked up to them, seeing that we had little time to spare before class started. The one who called me, Joshua, narrowed his eyes at Damien.
I narrowed my eyes right back at him. He doesn't like Damien because of his sexuality and how he can still get girls' attention. He would have some slick comments about Damien, but he knows better not to step out of line, especially with me around. Let's see how well he talks with busted braces and a bloody mouth. From the corner of my eye, I saw Damien shuffle his feet under Joshua's heavy stare.
"What do you want, Joshua," I asked, forcing Joshua to focus on me. His look of distaste shifted to a goofy grin.
"Aye, man, what's up with that hostility? A brother can't say hi?" I felt the urge to roll my eyes.
I know this man didn't call me like a damn harpy just to say 'hi.'
And I know he didn't really call himself my "brother." We met this year, seeing how his ass has been on JV for the past two. We would talk on the court but hardly anytime outside of that. Any brother of mine would know better than sending threats to Damien...
"Nah, man, it's just early..."
"Ahh, okay... Yo, I heard Ashley was looking for ya..." I shuddered. Nope. Not today, Satan. It's too early for you to be trying me right now. I smacked my lips.
"Oh really?"
"Yeah, shawty says she wants to talk."
"Ain't nothing to talk about." Joshua and a majority of the other guys stared at me.
"Whatchu mean, "ain't nothing to talk about"? Shawty clearly wants you, bruh," Joshua pressed. I gave him a nasty look for trying to press the issue.
"I said what I said, and I meant it. Drop it," I growled, my blood boiling at the conversation and the main objective of said conversation.
