First Day of School

——Recap of the Last Chapter——

Lollipop's best friend, Ann Claud, met her at the public park showing her the new phone she got.

Through an app, Lollipop tells Ann that she wants to go back to school, but she's afraid Darry will say no.

They later get some ice cream while being almost kidnapped in the back of a van.

They both get free and run in a different direction. Lollipop says goodbye to Ann, and she goes home.

I get home and I feel a little bit confident.

School is important to me, and I really want to go so so so bad!

This is it Lollipop, shoulders back and just be confident.

Dally stops me at the door, "Hey, Monkey, how was the park?"

I whispered, "It was fun."

Max then ran down the stairs and jumped right in my arms.

"Aww..I missed you too, Max."

He began licking my face as I started to giggle.

Wait, Lollypop! Focus!

I look up and see Darry sitting in his chair behind the couch reading a newspaper.

Okay, Lollipop, this is it you can do it.

I clear my throat, "Darry, may I ask you something?"

He slowly puts down his newspaper probably surprised I spoke up, "Of course you can, tell me what's on your mind."

"I-I wanna go back to school with Ann."

Two-bit turned around and looked at us.

He was sitting on the couch eavesdropping.

Darry said to me lowering his glasses, "I don't think you're ready, Lollipop, maybe next year okay?"

He raised his newspaper back up and started reading where he left off.

"No."

I bit my lip really scared. I've never told Darry no before.

Sodapop came into the room and picked me up, "Hey, Lolly, what's going on?"

Darry stood up putting his paper aside, "It appears your sister wants to go back to school."

I gave Soda my best pouty face.

"Aww jeez, not the puppy eyes, Lolly."

Darry continued talking, "I told her that she isn't ready to go."

Soda looked at him, "Come on, Darry, I think she's ready now."

Soda put me down as I stood in between them.

Darry didn't take his eyes off Soda as he said, "Lollipop, go up to your room now."
