Chapter 4

JASPER P.O.V

"What kind of problem?" I mind link, Leo.

"The kind of problem, that involves your little brother and a human." He replies gravely.

SHIT!

FUCK!

"Are you serious?" I ask, feeling very concerned about my brother's safety.

"Of course I am, he isn't hurt or anything, but it's still a problem."

I feel instant relief knowing he isn't hurt.

"I'm on my way."

"We're headed back to the house, and prepare yourself for some not so good news."

"No, I'm on my way," I say and return to reality.

"You seriously have a problem with blanking out, man." He says irritated, his eyebrows furrowed angrily.

"Look, Mister Lake, I'm just going to get down to business, this home is the town's property, the former owners the Casters' didn't sell their home or gave it to any relatives and as our records show they have no known relative, therefore this home is the town's property and you're trespassing." I draw out, getting angsty about my brother being with a human but also having this human in my territory is pissing me off.

He looks at me with mixed emotions, shock, disbelief, suspicion, and rage.

"So, Mister Lake, here are your options, you either come with me to my office and we discuss the cost of the home and such or you leave and never come back to this town or I get you arrested for trespassing and squatting." I calmly explain to him, hoping and praying that he leaves and never comes back. Of course, if he had chosen to stay I'd make sure it wasn't a very welcoming stay.

He looks so angry, red with rage in the face, ready to explode at any second now. He angrily huffs, panting slightly trying to control his temper it seems with all the inhaling and exhaling he's doing. This continues for a while, him most likely trying to think up a plan or decision. I don't know, don't care, right now, I just want to get home and make sure James is okay and I can solve this problem, Leo was talking about.

I calmly, coolly wait for him to make his decision on the outside, even though on the inside I'm anxious to get to my brother, something tells me I need to get to my brother.

"I still don't believe that you're the mayor but I don't want to get arrested, so I'll leave but just know that I'm coming back." I raise an eyebrow at the part of him still not believing that I'm the mayor as well as the part of where he said he's coming back.

"Well, then Mister Lake I do hope that when you return you visit me at my office where we can discuss whatever it is you wish to discuss," I tell him with a pleasant smile while handing my business card.

He looks at it with very poorly concealed disgust, then plasters that fake smile of his, nods, and then processes to get his stuff and leave.

I wave goodbye then shout very cheery and sarcastically, " Drive safely and I can't wait to see you again, The Wild Hunt welcomes you.... not." I whisper the last part of that sentence to myself, the fake cheer disappearing from my voice immediately.

Just going to leave his partner behind like that, huh?

"Make sure he leaves the territory," I mind link a guard stationed at the entrance/exit road.

"Yes, alpha."

I woke up groggily to someone, shaking me awake.
