Chapter 3. Untamable creatures

"Gentlemen" Mr. Maxwell addressed the class, standing on the podium "And Miss Scott" he added quickly as his eyes fell on the only girl in the class and perhaps the whole institute. The people in the institute kept forgetting that this year they had a girl among them. It has never happened at WICKED before. Hence it needed some getting used to.

"You have all come to this institute with a vision of becoming the world's best dragon keepers. Here you are going to undergo one of the toughest training sessions. Before we expose you to the presence of real dragons, we expect you to be physically and academically qualified. In the first two months, you'll be attending theory classes, work with the other departments of the institute and at the same time you'll undergo physical training. At the end of the term, an examination will be conducted and mind you, only those who qualify this examination with D ultimatum, which is the highest score or D Excellence or at least a D Approvable will be continuing their training at this institute" he said.

"She'll be here for two months then" Charlie said, hitting the table with his fist.

"Not if she voluntarily drops out" Aiden suggested

"Give us a day or two" A blonde haired boy who was sitting in front of him turned his head and whispered to the two boys. "Sorry I couldn't help but eavesdrop. Although in my defense, you two weren't exactly being too quiet" He added "Nathan Gilbert" He said and carefully extended his hand from under the table so that Mr. Maxwell wouldn't notice this secret conversation taking place right under his nose. Both Aiden and Charlie smiled and joined the secret pact with Nathan and his friend Ezra Zachary in their "Throw the girl out of WICKED" mission.

Mr. Maxwell cleared his throat gathering the boys' attention. "Dragons.."He began scanning the room as if trying to spot one from behind the fellow trainees "are the most dangerous of the magical creatures. They are one of the most mysterious creatures in this world. Legends have it that dragons are the first inhabitants of this planet and that they acquire new powers with time. It is believed that at first the Dragons had no wings and as centuries passed by, wings began to sprout and later in AD 28 it was discovered that they could breathe fire. Dragons, due to their gigantic size and powerful magical abilities continue to be a challenge to the wizarding world. Dragons, the highest flying creatures, which can fly millions of miles at a stretch, are used by the wizards to their advantage"

He got down from the podium and continued "There are different breeds of Dragons which I assume you already know" he said, looking at the class expectantly.

"Yes sir" the whole class chanted.

"Well?"

"The Norwegian Ridgeback sir" Charlie said, raising his hands.

"Ooh the vicious ones with long snout and spiny wings. Good one, Mr Weasley" Mr. Maxwell smiled.

"The Chinese Fireball" Owen said enthusiastically.

"ah the Lion dragon... yes.. Mr Flicker?" Maxwell turned to face Marshall.

"Peruvian Vipertooth sir?" Marshall spoke in a hushed tone as if unsure of his answer.

"Are you asking me, Mr. Flicker?" Maxwell chuckled. "You are right.. The one with the venomous fangs which is too dangerous, exactly the reason why it's breeding is under check"

"The Romanian longhorn" Nathan said.

"The one with sharp golden horns, the sweetheart of the dragon dealers" Maxwell said.

"The Ukranian Ironbelly sir" Charlie spoke again because he couldn't resist the urge. He knew it all. Everything about dragons.

"Yes, the largest breed among the dragons, with metallic grey scales on its belly. Have you seen one Mr. Weasley?" Maxwell asked curiously.
