Chapter 12. Way out of the line

Marshall sat on his bed fidgeting his thumbs and shaking his legs. The door was kept ajar and he kept looking out the room hoping that Natalie would walk in any minute now. He knew she was safe. Nevertheless he couldn't sleep last night.

As soon as a silver dragon had swooped across them while they had been wandering in the mountains looking for Natalie, who had mysteriously gone missing, they had abandoned their search mission and had headed straight to WICKED. Charlie's voice had spoken to them through the patronus that he had found their missing team member and that they were safe and would report back to WICKED soon. Meanwhile Ethan had received a message from WICKED that Aiden McMiller had returned safely at the institute. Before sunset, the team led by Ethan Walker had made their way back to WICKED.

Now they were all anxiously waiting for Natalie and Charlie to return.

"I told you long ago she didn't belong here" Nathan spoke. He sat there leaning against the headboard of his bed, resting one leg above the other. Ezra who was sitting at his feet, nodded in agreement "You are always right Nathan."

"Come on! She can't even keep herself safe, then how does she suppose she could keep dragons?" Nathan snickered.

"We don' know what happened to her yet" Joseph said. He was pacing back and forth in the room.

"It isn't that hard to guess though. She might have just tripped over a rock or something and fainted. That poor fragile thing" Nathan smirked.

Marshall had heard enough. His whole body was shaking as his nerves imploded with anger. He got up from his bed and walked towards Nathan "Keep your bloody mouth shut Nathan! Don't you dare speak about Natalie like that" Marshall warned him.

"Ooooh... Are you threatening me Flicker?" Nathan asked, getting to his own feet "After what I did to..." Ezra immediately cut him off "Nathan Don't!!!" he cautioned, grabbing Nathan's arm and pulling him back to face him. "Don't speak!" he told him again in a hushed tone. Nathan nodded and turned back to face Marshall. Both glared at each other.

"Aidy what's wrong with you?" Owen's voice distracted them. He was standing near Aiden's bed who in turn was lying on his back, staring at the ceiling. Jason and Boon came to stand next to Owen, placing their arms on Owen's shoulder "Give him some time mate" Boon said "Yeah man! He needs some time to recover" Jason said.

"Recover from what?" Aiden sat upright.

"Aiden don't you see it? The venom from the snake bite is causing you to hallucinate" Boon pointed out.

"I am not hallucinating!! Everything I told you is true! Every single bit of it!" He cried "Damn it!!!" he stomped his foot on the foot-board in frustration and gracelessly fell back on his bed.

"Aiden" Owen moved towards him.

"Go away Owen before I throw anything at you" he said, burying his face in the pillow.

"Natalie!!!!" Joseph exclaimed. Every single head turned towards the door. Natalie walked inside limping slightly.

"Thank Merlin! You are all right!" Joseph hugged her. Natalie struggled to get out of his tight embrace and faked a smile when he finally let her go.

"You made it in one piece" Jason said, giving her a fist bump. "That's our girl" Boon cheered her, giving her a side hug.

"Nat!!!" Marshall rushed to her and pulled her into a bone crushing hug "You got us all worried" he said. "Are you okay?" he asked, looking at her intently.

"Yeah! I am fine Marshall. I had a few bones broken here and there.. but it's all fine now" she said, smiling at him. Then she spoke in a louder voice so that everyone could here "You see Marshall sometimes everything doesn't turn out the way you planned"
