You Dumb Fucks

Hayden Rain

I had assumed that Howe wanted to speak to me because he was having girl problems. For fucks sake, the boy couldn't make it more obvious that he was trying to get with Diamond. But after our one-on-one meeting, I was livid.

Storming out of my office, the office that used to belong to a one Jerry Buchanan, I stomp my way to the eighth floor with Will on my heels. I can barely hear him asking me what she had done wrong, saying that he just wanted me to know she was getting more powerful because there was no way she would talk to me herself. As if I wasn't drowning in responsibilities, trying to run an entire base, but also training these recruits. Anyone keeping anything from me, no matter how small, could be detrimental to the entire facility.

"Black!" the door to their hang out hits the wall as I barge in.

She puts down the phone in her hand, tucking it in her pocket and turns to me with her eyebrows raised. "Can I help you?"

"Stand the hell up when I talk to you. Why the fuck did I just hear that you've got a new power? What kind of game are you trying to play here, Black? In case you haven't been paying attention, people live's are resting on your entire existence, so what kind of angle are you taking on this? Do you believe that I'm here to groom you on how to make the cutest spells or the most dangerous ones? I'm not here for a tea party, and I hope to hell that you aren't either. So what the fuck, Black? What the fuck can you do now? TELL US ALL since you love to keep your secrets!"
I. Am. Fuming. I can barely control my mouth, especially when it comes to this entitled bitch. Everyone else in the room except her holds a shocked expression, I'm sure surprised by my outburst.

But I have too much on my plates and too many secrets being kept to handle one more, and one that comes from my own team?

She doesn't say anything to me, but stands slowly, trying her best to appear intimidating. But I'm inches taller than her, towering over her really, and though I can see the red fire burning in her eyes, I meet it with the same ferocity.

Her jaw clenches as she takes another step toward me, never breaking eye contact, concentrating on trying to make me fear her.

"What the fuck do you think you're doing? Scaring me?" I bite, bending down to be at eye level with her.

"Look outside, bitch," she practically spits in my face before storming out of the room. Brooklyn follows closely behind her, her long legs struggling to keep up with the short girl.

And when I do, I'm amazed. There are flower petals littering the ground outside like tiny dots of confetti. A red tinted cloud hangs above the building, alike to the color of Black's eyes.

My mouth hangs open in amazement at the beauty of it; I've only known her to be destructive.

Turning around, I ask, "How many of you knew about this?"

Everyone is silent, even Hope who I know also knows about this.

"There are no secrets. NONE. I will not have it. You want to lead a private life, realize it'll be a private afterlife. No more bitching to me. And there will be no more leaving this facility if you dumb fucks can't get your shit together. Do you not realize this is life or death? This isn't some high school project that you're trying to get a passing grade on. This is a war. This is a revolution. This is a revolt. People are out there dying so you can live to win the war they're giving their lives for. Grow the fuck up."
