Chapter 3

A wave of deep horror creeps through my whole body. I hurl and run to the bathroom to be sick. Harley comes in a few seconds later and pulls my hair out of the way, rubbing my back gently. She waits until i'm finished and kneels down beside me. She looks me in the eyes for a few seconds.
"What happened, Lucy?" She demands. I open my mouth to speak. I couldn't word it and nothing comes out. My eyes water in frustration.
"You just a little hungover?" She asks gently. I let some tears slip before throwing up again. She grabs back hold of my hair, resting her forehead on my shoulder.
"You remember something, don't you," She sighs. I start to shiver. I didn't know whether to tell her or not. I don't want her to flip out and go mental about it. She strokes my bare back, making me shiver even more. She tuts.
"The state of you," She mutters.
"Harley, if I tell you something, please promise you'll stay calm," I say taking her wrist.
"You can tell me anything. That's the way it's always been between us," She pulls me in close and we curl up together under the sink. We sit in silence for a little while, both of us knowing i'm trying to find the words and the courage.
"I think the blood isn't from a cut," I say quickly. I look up to see Harley's reaction.
"Okay," She says, trying to be caring. I breathe in and out. I was finding the courage to say it.
"I lost my virginity last night. That's where the blood is from," I wasn't sure if Harley heard this I said it so quiet. She didn't say anything.
"Did you hear me Harley?" I said, a little louder now.
"Yeah... loud and clear," She sighs.
"You sound hurt," I say starting to cry.
"No, honey. It's just a shock, ok?"
"Thanks!" I say trying to make a joke. She laughs along, before saying she didn't mean it like that. We didn't say anything to eachother for a good few minutes. I kept my head down. I could barely look up. I could feel her watching me and my face was burning red.
"Who was it?" Harley said breaking the silence at last. I looked at her in the eyes, I didn't know what to tell her. I threw up all over again, not seeing it coming this time.
"That bad huh?" She giggles. I didn't laugh that time. I froze. I had no idea how to tell her the next part, or how to even say the words.
"L?" She smiles, gently poking me. I don't reply, I was too deep in thought, trying to figure out what to say.
"Hey," She says gently, pulling me back down. "You're like a little frozen statue, what did I say?"
"Nothing," I slurred
"Something happened out there right?" She said gently. I frowned.
"Yeah." She said slowly. "Did you know the guy?" She asked quietly. I shook my head.
"Did you want it to happen?" She asks again, pulling me right into her chest so i'm squished. "Nope," I squeak. I start to cry again and look straight up to see Harley's reaction. I couldn't bear it. I cried even harder.
"Shhh," She says, holding me lighter. "Oh kid, I'm so sorry, it's my fault," She starts. "If I hadn't been such a dick, you would have stayed here with me. I'm so sorry," I didn't say anything. I had no idea how to respond. I was half mad, half too tired to fight.
"Want me to stay home today? Of course you do, I'll ring up sick, and we'll just have a small day in together, you want that?" She says, looking down at me. She gets up, trying to help me up at the same time. I lean in a slump up against her, and she helps me get into her bed. I fell asleep almost straight after, it was a deep dream, and the rest of the memories came back. I woke up after a while, and saw it was nighttime. I hear the front door go about five minutes after. I froze, Harley said she was here, maybe he had came back for me, for round two.
"Just me!" Harley called. I softened in relief and turned over. She smiles at me, putting down her briefcase and taking out her bun. "I know I said I would stay, but you fell right on asleep, I was sure you would be fine and I locked the doors so that-" She decided to shut up. She took off her blazer and layed beside me. And off I went to sleep, again.
