"why do i keep needing you when i know I'll get hurt?"

yoongi stepped out of his warm steamy shower into the cold place that was his room. he threw his pijamas on and collapsed onto his bed not before slipping his headphones over his head.

he turned his music up halfway and shut his eyes as tightly as he could, even with the loud music blasting into yoongi's ears it wasn't enough to cover his mother's cries for help.

the last time he tried to help his mother he got the beating of his life, his father made sure that he would never attempt to do anything again. yoongi felt useless, a part of him wanted to rush downstairs and help his defenseless mother but the other part of him realized that he was just as defenseless as her.

more loud cries and sobs were heard only making yoongi feel more useless than what he thought he was.

he grabbed his phone and turned his music up all the way until it had reached limit. a few tears managed to trickle down his cheek when a loud banging sound came from his door. he knew what was coming.

_____________

"yoongi what happened??" taehyung gasped while pointing to the obvious bruise on his cheek, yoongi frowned and thought to himself, i thought i put on enough concealer..

taehyung continued to panic but yoongi quickly cut him off before he asked if it was his father who did this to him.

"i fell over."

"how and why did you try to conceal it?"

yoongi dragged his friend into the building and frowned, "there was an ice cream truck rolling by in my neighborhood and i-i fell down on the street trying to catch up with it.. i tried to conceal it because i didn't want anyone asking."

taehyung slightly chuckled but he planted a small kiss on the bruise, yoongi blushed and pushed taehyung away, "s-stop kissing me tae.."

"why? you know i don't mean it like that."

yoongi rolled his eyes, "mhm sure.." for whatever reason yoongi felt a sharp sting in his heart. did he want taehyung's kisses to be like 'that?"

the two boys split off to their own classes and shortly after lunch it was time for math.

the small boy stepped down all the way to the back and plopped down onto his seat, a small but adorable grin sat on his face as he stared up at jeongguk.

"good afternoon j-jeongguk.."

the hooded boy gazed up at yoongi and waved silently. yoongi was more than relived that he wasn't a total asshole and actually waved instead of ignoring him like yesterday.

ms. jenkin's walked into the classroom shortly after second bell rang and immediately began her lecture, most students fell asleep or made funny faces when she wasn't looking but yoongi was only one who was actually paying attention and writing down everything shown on the board.

jeongguk laid back in his chair and shifted his eyes towards yoongi, he analyzed his face features along with his body. a skinny boy jeongguk thought, i wonder if he even eats.

as jeongguk continued to stare at yoongi he noticed the purple bruise plastered on his cheek, he raised an eyebrow and sat up. he knew it wasn't his business but he couldn't help but feel curious.

"what happened?"

the deep raspy voice startled yoongi, he flinched at the slightest dropping his pen onto the ground. yoongi stared down at his pen and then glared at jeongguk, "w-what are you talking about?"

jeongguk then pointed to the bruise, "your cheek. what happened?" yoongi pulled his hood over his head and shrugged, "i fell over, nothing grand."

"it looks like someone punched you. did you get into a fight or something?" jeongguk scoffed playfully, he bent over to scoop up yoongi's pen and placed it down onto the table.

"that's none of your c-concern.. hey shouldn't you be writing down notes?"

yoongi grabbed his pen and tried to catch up on what ms. jenkins was teaching. jeongguk slowly nodded and pulled a pencil from out of his book bag, he opened up his math journal and quickly jotted down everything on the board.

yoongi was surprised at how fast the boy could write, he felt the urge to ask him to be his personal writer but of course he didn't ask.

"are you doing anything tomorrow night?" jeongguk whispered while tossing his pencil to the side, he winked at yoongi and smirked lightly.

"yes i am actually, i am going to stay locked up in my room all night."

"how come?"

"because," yoongi huffed, "i don't want to associate with anyone in my house at the moment."

jeongguk hummed in response and scratched the back of his neck, he slowly turned his head to face yoongi, "will you be locked up in your room the day after that?"

yoongi shook his head, "im going to run away so i'll probably never see that room again, im going to be a free bird out in the wilderness."

"the wilderness is dangerous for a small little kitten like you."

"im willing to take on a challenge. this little kitten knows how to belly roll so i'll be fine. i hope.."

jeongguk scoffed, "you think being able to belly roll is going to be enough to help you out there? do you even know how to defend yourself?"

yoongi then thought to himself, he's right.. i can't even defend myself against my own father. what makes me think i would be able to defend myself out in the city?

"im going to take that as a no."

before yoongi could break down into tears the bell rang. jeongguk gathered up his belongings and grinned, "just stay at home yoongi. for your own sake." and with that he was gone.

the small male quickly wiped away his tears and rushed off to chemistry where taehyung was waiting for him, he hadn't told him about what happened with jeongguk or his father. he just threw a fake smile on his face and somehow managed to survive throughout the period.
_____________

yoongi hurried out of the building with a few tears trickling down his cheek, he began to walk in the direction of the city instead of home and could hear taehyung call out for him but he just kept walking.

after a few minutes yoongi finally made it into the city, he stared at all the families strolling by with their hands interlocked and frowned. why couldn't his parents be like everyone else's parents? why couldn't he have a normal family?

he continued to walk through the city and eventually wondered into an alleyway. he laid up against a brick wall and quietly sobbed to himself, if there was anything he wanted to do at the moment was to let everything out. he had been holding everything in to the point where he just couldn't do it anymore.

"what are you doing here pretty boy?"
