The next few weeks of school were a blur. I had a hard time paying attention to my instructors and to anyone that acknowledge my presence. Charlie and I decided that maybe a light jog around the track might be a good distraction from thinking too much about Jax. I wish it was that easy. Everywhere I turned I found myself looking for him. Trying to just get a glimpse of his face to know that he is okay. I soon realized that Jax was gone and I don't think he was coming back.
Charlie and I met up in the locker room after classes and changed into some workout clothes and headed out to the track.
"I hope this works Charlie. I am not big on running unless I am being chased!" I complained.
"Suck it up buttercup! You'll be fine." She replied sarcastically.
As we made our way out to the track I took in my surroundings. Trying not to look for Jax but to actually enjoy the view. The sun was warm against my back and there was a light breeze blowing through the campus. This was nice. Maybe this is exactly what I did need to clear my mind.
There weren't very many people out on the track which made it nice. I am not the most graceful person doing anything athletic.
"Let's do some light stretching before we make our way around the track." Charlie suggested.
"Okay. Whatever you say Yoda." I replied giggling.
"Bite Me!" Charlie replied harshly.
I began my stretching staring off into really nothing. I looked around the field and up in the stands to the few people that were sprawled out in various sections studying or taking in the activities around them. My eyes feel onto one individual that seemed to be staring right back at me. He was gorgeous. For a split second our eyes met and I immediately glanced down in a slight panic. I could feel his eyes still on me and a blush flushed over my cheeks.
I peaked up again from under my lashes to get another look at this God-like creature staring at me. He was handsome in that James Dean kind of way. Spiky brown hair, gorgeous eyes that sparkled in the sun and that grin. OH MY GOD THAT GRIN was making me melt. He had on a long black sleeve shirt that hugged his muscles in all the right places with a pair of dark destroyed denim jeans. He looked like he stepped right out of a magazine.
"LIV! LIV! Earth to LIV!" Charlie was now shouting at me.
"Oh shit, what?" I responded, distracted by my thoughts and staring at the incredibly HOT!! new guy.
"What on earth are you zoned out on?" she asked looking at me all crazy.
I put my head down and blushed trying not to make it obvious. "Don't look but there is an incredibly hot new guy on the bleachers staring over at us!" I whispered to her.
Of course Charlie whips her head around looking over the bleachers to see who I was referring to.
"What?... Who?... OH!!! Now I see!" she stammered. "That's just James. He's in my human sexuality class."
"In your what?" I asked bewildered.
"You know human sexuality. Penis, vagina and so on." she giggled and pushed my shoulder back.
"AH Yeah! I get it, but why would a guy like that take a that class?" I explained.
"Why wouldn't he? If I say so he's pretty damn smart. Almost the entire class is girls and with looks like that who could resist him." she explained.
"That's for damn sure. He is fucking sexy as hell. I wouldn't mind changing classes around for him." I responded.
Damn it Liv, snap out of it. Jax has barely been gone and you are already lusting over another guy. A fucking hot as fuck guy. Shut up brain. I am not in the mood for your bitchy banter, I tell myself.
"Oh my GOD! Charlie." he's walking over here. FUCK!" I stuttered.
"Relax girl he's probably just coming over to say hi." she explained.
He, James, makes his way over to us and I begin to get nervous and shake my knee. Charlie puts her hand on my shoulder and looks over to me with a smile telling me stop. I send her back a tight smile back and look up at James as he saunters over to us.
"Hey Charlie!" he greets her.
"Hay James, how are you?" she replies.
"I'm great, you?" he asks looking back and forth between Charlie and myself.
"Oh fuck, excuse my rudeness. James this is my best friend Liv. Liv this is James." she introduces us.
"Hi there gorgeous and how are you today?" he asks with his million dollar smile plastered across his face.
Of course I cannot for the life of me find my God damn words. What the hell is wrong with me. Speak Liv, speak!!
"H-Hi! I'm ok, I guess." I reply shyly.
He gave me a slight smirk and turned to Charlie.
"So are you coming to my party tomorrow night?" he asked her.
"Hell yes I am." she responded excitedly.
"And how about you?" he looked at me smiling.
"I guess I can make an appearance." I replied trying to be koy. I don't think it worked.
"Great, I can't wait. So the party starts at 10. You BOTH better be there!" he exclaimed, emphasizing the BOTH.
I just shyly smiled back and him and he threw me a devilish grin and a wink.
"We will be there James. Don't you worry." she replied to him as he walked away from us heading back to campus. He looked back every couple of steps and then threw on his glasses and turned away from us.
"EEEEEEEEEEEEEKKKKKKKKKKKKKKK!!!" Charlie squealed. "OMG! He totally was checking you out gurl!"
"Yeah right. He's totally hot and I am totally not!" I defended myself.
"After I am done fixing you up tomorrow night, he will be drooling at your feet, baby gurl!" she said excitedly jumping up and down in front of me.
"Wait, what?" I responded dazed and confused. "I don't need your help Charlie."
"Have you seen the bags under your eyes, Liv? You need all the help you can get. Believe me!" she explained.
"OUCH! That hurt!" I expressed to her clutching my hand over my heart. "I am so wounded."
"Funny! Let's get this work out under way. We can talk wardrobe deets after." she purred.
"Fine." I expressed as we began to take our jog around the track.
I couldn't help myself from looking in the direction that James left us. Hoping to grab another glimpse of him, but he was gone. Oh well, I told myself. I will have to wait and see him tomorrow.
