A cozy diner sat across from Barley's. It was a little unkept, yellow paint peeling off the bricks and it's glowing sign burning out. The sign read "Dine-a-Mike's".
Inside it was quite nice, however. Colt sat in a booth, shifting uncomfortably. He was the only one in the diner at the moment, with the exception of Dynamike, Rico, and Darryl, who was yet again pretending to be a trash can.Colt glanced at the door for the 485th time.
Dynamike popped up in front of him. "Waitin' for someone?"
Colt frowned. "Yeah. It's been 10 minutes."
Dynamike shrugged. "Eh, I'm sure they'll show up-"
He screamed and ran into he kitchen. "NO, Mini-Mike! You don't try to cook yourself!"
Colt's eyes widened. Guess he means his canary.
Suddenly, a whooooosh of cold air filled the restaurant, making him shiver. Colt gritted his teeth and was about to make a rude remark when he realized it was Shelly.
"Sorry I was late, Nita got stuck in a tree and Leon was trying to get her to jump off." She explained, casually sitting across Colt.
Colt looked red as a tomato. "Hey! You look good as a pickle, great?"
Shelly raised an eyebrow.
"I mean, like, good. I like pickles, huh..." Colt trailed off.
"Uh, let's just order." Before hiding his face behind a menu.Shelly nodded, confused, before Rico came up to the table.
"What would you like to order?" He said in his monotone voice.
Shelly ordered while Colt glanced at the specials. Sure, he'll have one even though he has no clue what it was.
"I'll h-have the special please." He said after Shelly was done.
Rico nodded and walked away.
"So, um. How was your day?" Colt said awkwardly.
Shelly groaned. "Terrible. In a showdown match, I was just opening a power box when El Primo jumped on me aswell as Spike. Those little heckers got me last place, oh, and then-"
Colt spaced out then, only hearing something about wanting Crow to piss off.
"Oh, our food's here."
Colt looked up.The special turned out to be rock-hard pancakes with butter, while Shelly got pasta.
Colt stared down at his food, frowning.
"You not hungry?" Shelly asked.
"Oh, no. I-i'm fine." Colt said, giving a thumbs up and trying to eat the piece of burnt pancake.
Jesus christ, what did Dynamike use to cook this? Literal dynamite?
Colt tried not to gag while Shelly went on about all her whereabouts.
"And that's why you don't team with Bull." Shelly said as they finished eating.
Colt cringed. "Why would you team with Bull? Everyone hates him."
Shelly shrugged. "I dunno. Just wanted to give the poor guy a chance, anyways, how was your day?"
Colt's face went red again due to Shelly looking right at him.
"Um...it was okay I guess." He wanted to say something else, but his tongue was tied.
An awkward silence hung in the air and Colt looked liked he was about to straight up run outta there.
Shelly was getting up, about to leave.
"No, wait Penny!" Colt exclaimed.
Shelly froze.
"Excuse me, what?"She stared at Colt.
"N-No, I meant S-Shelly. Not P-Penny." He stuttered, looking utterly mortified.
Shelly's face went red. "Uh...see you later Colt."
She swiftly walked out of the diner.
Colt slapped himself in the face. "You failed me, good looks."
He muttered, leaving a twenty dollar bill on the table and walking out the door.If you're wondering why Colt calling Shelly "Penny" was such of an insult, it's because in this timeline, Penny is Colt's ex. Hope you enjoyed!
