It was my birthday that day. I was finally turning 18. An adult as everybody says. As I walked to school that morning, you called me by my name.

How happy I felt hearing my name coming out of your mouth. It sounded just right, like melodies coming through my ears. I turned and happily greeted you only to see you were carrying a small box.

You went up to me saying you heard it was my birthday that day and thought it was nice to give me a gift. Now at that time I was bewildered, we weren't really that close, we were acquaintances but never really what you call as friends.

Our leagues were beyond different and we weren't living in some kind of fairytale and yet there you were handing me that small box telling me to open it with a grin on your face.

You wouldn't know how happy I was seeing that yellow necklace with my initials that you bought. You shyly put it around my neck and said it was for goodluck and that you were happy to know me. Knowing I was nervous that time all I could reply was a nod.

You didnt hear me say thank you though as you already ran your way to our school. Sadly, that was also the last time I talked to you as someone who thought we were something special. We went on different paths gradually after highschool. If I have known that was the last time I had my chance, I should've called for you and told you how I feel.

Years passed and I badly want you to know that after all these years, I still wear this yellow necklace that you gave me. Indeed it is my lucky charm.

If only I know where you are right now, I might tell you how you are the love of my life.
