Chapter One: The Lost Companion

They walked through the moonlit night, a strangely thick sense of unease hanging in the air. "Do you know that sharks is scared of dolphins?" Asked a man with a raven hair and pale skin who was standing next to a young woman who was has an exceptionally medium height. Yuzuru Arata.

The woman did not slow, nor did the steady sound of her footsteps falter, though her eyes looked up at the outline of an enormous building looming in the distance. Her name is Helena Estevan, and she was on a journey to complete her quest.

"And?" Her lips curl into a smile as she admired the view of the building. She took a step inside as she looked at the familiar building and its walls lit up as the moon was shining upon the building. She smiled, a fleeting feeling of joy surging through her stomach at the thought of a new quest.

"Just trying to ease up the atmosphere," Arata said as he looked at her while rubbing his hands together to calm his heart, "After all, this is one of a disastrous quest we ever seen."

She looked at her companion and a smile instantly lift up from her face. "So we're the sharks and whoever we're hunting for is the dolphins? You were saying?" She smirked.

He cleared his throat. "Not like that. We are the dolphins!"

"So you say..." She trailed off and her pace quickened as she ascended the stairs towards the main entrance, and the building lit up to welcome them.

"Okay..." Arata said while furrowing his eyebrows as they walked into the unknown.

But the woman was completely unfazed. As they walked deeper into the buildings, their eyes could not believe their sight. The air that surrounding the two of them was getting thicker as the fog starts to grow bigger. From a distance, there was a humongous man walking towards them with a dark snake swirling around his hands like veins rushing through the body.

Helena's eyes widened in a mixture of confusion and shock. Everything seemed to slow down for him as she continued to stare at the humongous man who was holding onto a monocle.

"Helena," Arata called from her side. She turned and looked at her companion who was unable to move, "Run."

Her eyes looked upon the humongous man. The cold, scheming smile that crossed the man's lips was deathly, and pricked Helena's skin like thorns on a rose. And as his smile slowly faltered, the sound of footsteps echoing across the floor drew the two partners's attention to figure heading their way.

"My legs ... " he paused, " is sinking. You have to go," Arata begged.

Helena did not move an inch as he approached, she held her ground with confident ease. "No, I won't."

Arata felt something change suddenly in the air around Helena, something dark emanating from within, but he was too slow to stop her as she walked forward.

With a powerful wave of her hand, she send and increased the frequency of the man's heartbeat and the man caught off guard and sent him flying backwards onto the ground floor with a thud.

Soon, the two of them was surrounded with an army of hideous creatures who was slowly crawling their way towards the two of them. She sent another wave of frequency and it sent all of them on the ground. They were all quick to regain themselves, though, they back up on their feet in an instant, their hands raised and pointed at the two of them, who Helena was still somehow remained calm.

Helena pursued her way over to the humongous man and his army with movements that were too graceful, too smooth, too feline - a skilled killer stalking towards his naive prey.

Helena came to a stop before the man who had now gotten up off the ground and was gritting his teeth, his previously well-groomed hair falling into his face and eyes as Helena snarled down at him. "You do not want to test my power or tempt my fury, old man. Trust me when I say that."

"Oh, you'll be wonderful." The man growled yet a horrifying smile was forming onto his face. "You might want to save your dear friend, girl." A menacing smile stretched its way across the man's domineering features.

Her eyes widened as she looked at her companion who was still struggling to move. "I will slit your throat if you won't tell me what you did to him?" She asked, her voice was eerie as she spoke, holding such traces of threat in each word that both the armies and Arata shifted at the sound.

The man simply laughed, "Is that a threat?"

There was a breaking point for everyone's patience. And she knew that this was the exact moment for the man. So before anyone could react, she sent another wave of frequency as she increased his heartbeat. He winced at the pain as his hands touched his chest.

"Tell me." Her hands slowly closing into a fist. Her eyes was driven away with the observation as a sudden light shine towards them causing everyone to move backwards as they put their hands over their faces to protect themselves from the light.

Slowly, she began to noticed that the man wasn't a man at all nor was he a human. It was something else. It was a skin of a reptile and she managed to see the sharp-edged of his teeth. Her eyes widened and slowly loosing her gripped, "What are you?"

"No, dear girl. What are you?" He hissed in pain. His eyes widened in a mixture of fear and shock while clinging onto his chest. Everything seemed to slow down for him as her eyes looked deep through his heart, searching for the truth.

The questions has sent a shock to Helena that her mind has stopped working so does her control of her own ability. With every strength the man had, he lunged forward and pushed Helena into the brimmed of light.

"No! Helena!" Her companion yelled as he tried to move forward yet his leg failed to do so, "Come on, move!" He screamed as his eyes frantically went wide as he watched his twenty-one years of companion left from his sight.

"Helena!" He voice boomed, causing thunder and lightning dash through the dark clouds.

His voice became more distant and inaudible to listen. She felt her arm twist away from her and the next thing she knew everything went black; she was pressed very hard from all directions; she could breathe yet she felt suffocating. She could feel her chest tightening and her ear-drums were being pushed deeper into her skull.

Suddenly Helena felt her feet on firm ground once more, and wobbled slightly as she came to grips with her location. A sense of discomfort washed through her body as she tried to suppress it. With every strength she had, she stood up from the ground as she observed the unknown.

"Okay first was Five and now this..." A raspy voice said as he curiously looked at her.

Her eyes wondered to her side and noticed that there was a boy who was slowly standing up, grimacing in pain. The boy looked down at himself in utter confusion. Helena admit that she had the same expression as him.

"Does anyone else see little Number Five, or is that just me?" A man with a brunette hair asked.

"And that woman too." A woman added.

Helena observed the woman, she had a light brown hair was neatly messy like a sweeping tide of obsidian, but was kept out of her face, revealing her beautiful carved facial features that gave her a look of natural beauty. She shrugged the thoughts of it as she observed her surroundings, her eyes widened in panic as she thought of her companion.

"Arata." She softly said as she looked in the direction of where the lights had gone.

"I'm sorry, who?" The same brunette man asked.

She regained herself as her eyes wondered to the group of people who was standing in front of her. "Where am I?"

Before anyone could answer, her body went limp. She couldn't comprehend what was happening as her body landing motionless alongside it, her vision blurring as she felt her eyes close. The last thing she saw was a blurred figure watching above her with a peculiar outfit that was filled with only black. And slowly, all the thoughts that had been rushing around her head slowly faded away along with her consciousness.
