Chapter 3 | ☾ questions i

In less than an hour, everything had changed.
What I had not thought possible had indeed become possible.
How could flesh heal on its own?
How could eyes glow like those of animals?
It didn't make sense.
I shuffled to the mirror, eyes peering closely at my neck through the glass to see that the bruises were still there from when one of the men had got me into a chokehold.
And now to think of it, his grip on me had been oddly...strong.
I had been in fights before and about ninety percent of the time, I was the winner and hence, I could safely say that throughout my entire life, I had never come across strength like that.
The thought had occurred to me that perhaps the man holding onto me could have been built rather like a boxer. Large build, bulging muscles and of tall height. However, I did remember that he was a lean, short man.
It was physically impossible.
Everything was.
Humans weren't capable of strength to that extent or abilities like super healing. If they were, I wasn't aware.
Frowning, I gently pressed against the bruises on my neck and wincing as I did from how tender and awful it looked. But I was used to it. Being in a large number of fights had left me rather numb to the bruises or scrapes and the pain.
I made a grimace as I slumped back onto the bed.I had lived in Astoria, Oregon for about a good two-thirds of my life. All I could remember was the foster homes that I had been passed to from one to another until I turned eighteen and had found an apartment soon after.
I didn't recall having any parents or family to speak off. All I did know was that my mother had passed in an unfortunate tragedy.
The good side of everything was that, strangely, there has been an account in my name with a sum of money that made my eyes almost pop out of my skull.
Whoever my mother was, she must had been important or at least a somebody.
But back to the main point, everything strange or unusual had all started with her.Gia.
I had lived in the same city and in the same neighbourhood for over a decade and I had not come across anything strange or odd until I've met her.
Bumping into had been unintentional but heading over to say hello was not. That I had the grace to admit.
I had only noticed her when I was about ten feet away from her car. I wasn't someone who impulsively approached strangers but there was this urging in me to introduce myself.
Whatever I was feeling was something I didn't know how to describe, but it was irritatingly incessant. Giving in, I had approached her to only get my iced tea spilled on the ground.
That was a bit of a shock but not as much after getting a proper look at Gia.
It felt like something was stirring in me and I could only blink at her for the first few second, mouth agape.
Whatever that I was feeling was...odd. It was as if something in me was trying to break loose and it was awfully unsettling. I pushed it aside and as my eyes met hers, all I could think of was that she was pretty cute.
