The Choice

Chapter 17

A few weeks go by, and it seems as though everything is finally going back to normal. Paige returned home, because she, unfortunately, didn't get the job. She is still looking for a closer job, however.

Andy has been checking on me almost every day, alongside Luke. Andy has also been coming around more lately, and we've grown a lot closer. Chloe and Leon are even starting to get attached to him. 

I haven't heard from Lucy much lately, but I'm sure I will soon. I don't know if Ezra knows she's pregnant or not yet. 

I hit my 12 week mark yesterday, and to say I was excited is an understatement. I've only gained 10 pounds so far, and while I've gotten some questionable looks, I haven't gained enough weight for people to notice I'm pregnant. 

I've been distancing myself from Ricky lately, but not because I want to. I am just worried about how he's going to react because sooner or later he is going to find out about Clay and I. I'm just hoping Clay and I will be the ones to tell him first. 

I haven't heard much from Clay since seeing him at the hotel. He's texted me a few times, but we haven't had the chance to sit down and talk. 

"Mom, I'm hungry!" I hear Leon call from the living room. 

I set down my glass of water, and I head into the living room. 

"What do you want to eat?" I ask.

Chloe's got a little bit of a cold, so she's laying down in her room. Thankfully, it's Friday night, so she has the weekend to rest. 

"Can we go out to eat?" Leon asks.

"I wish, but Chloe's sick. She needs to stay in and rest," I say, rubbing his hair.

Leon pouts, and he crosses his arms.

"I think I know just the thing that will make both of you happy," I say, grinning a little.

"What?" Leon asks excitedly, a smile plastered on his face.

"Just watch TV. You'll find out soon," I say. 

I go into the kitchen, and I pull out my phone. I find Andy in my contacts, and I hit the call button. 

"Hello Josephine," he answers.

Besides Ezra, no has called me Josephine in so long except for Andy. 

"Are you busy tonight?" I ask.

"I'm at work, but I'll be off in the next hour. Needing some company?" Andy asks.

"I was thinking it would be nice. Chloe's sick, and I know Leon would love having you over. I think he enjoys having the male presence around."

"I'll be on my way as soon as I get off," Andy says.

"Could you bring dinner with you?" I ask.

"Craving anything special?"

"Surprise us."

I give Leon a snack to hold him over while he waits anxiously for the surprise. 

The doorbell rings about two hours later, and Leon's eyes light up. 

"Is that my surprise?" he asks.

"Yes, it is," I grin. 

I follow Leon to the door, and he hurriedly opens it.

"Andy!" he screams and throws himself around him. 

"Hi buddy," Andy grins. 

I grab a couple of bags out of Andy's hands, and he hurries inside.

"It's storming bad," Andy says, taking his raincoat off.
