"So I know what you said before about us being friends" Connor started "But I'm on coffee run later and if, your charge is okay being on his own for a bit then maybe you'll come to Dean & DeLuca with me?"
I knew that Ben was in the next room, probably listening too, but Connors my friend, and it might be fun to get away from Ben for a bit this afternoon "Sure, it'll be fun, Maybe we can skip Dean & DeLuca thought. It's like $13 a coffee there"
He smiled "Okay."
There was a knock at the door.
Connor looked at me "Room service?"
I shook my head "I haven't called yet, unless Ben did? Ben?" I called out to the kitchen," Did you order room service?"
There was a knocking at the door again, "I'll get it," Connor said, rolling his. "Hello?"
The next few seconds happened in slow motion.
The door was barred down, and five filled-out men the size of night club bouncers pushed they're way through the frame- guns and knifes in hand.
Connor went for the front man, balding with a mole on his forehead. He punched him in the face, ducking from a swipe from Mole's knife. Connor grabbed him by the shoulders and forced his knee into his stomach. Mole went down and the rest started to come for us, that's when I focused back in.
Black-with-Mohawk came after me, while Blackey-blonde went after Connor.
I ducked a side swipe punch from Black-with-Mohawk, elbowing him in the ear.
"Rylie, I got this. Get Ben out of here!" Connor called, as he took a blow from bald-big-nose, then turned to jab White-with-earring in the ribs.
"Ben!" I called "Ben, you have to get out of this roo-" Ben stood in the middle of the kitchen, knife in hand, hard look on his face.
"What are you doing?" I asked "you don't need to defend yourself, okay, were taking care of it...put down the knife"
He didn't
"Come on Ben, we don't have time."
"No..." he said lightly "We don't..."
I grabbed his wrist- with strength that should have subdued him. I tried to grab the knife, but he pushed me off.
"Ben!" I complained.
"Stop joking around, I'm serious!"
"So am I!" he snapped back.
I pulled my gun out from behind my back, pointing it directly at his heart. He didn't flinch.
"Rylie, what do you think was going to happen, I'd sit back while you 'Monitor the people that killed me parents' like you even believe that yourself"
I raised the gun to his head "What are you talking about?"
"There's allot that you don't know!" he moved closer so that he gun was pressed against his forehead. "There's allot you don't know" he repeated "You'd better find out what side your on. Before. It's. Too. Late"
I pulled the trigger.
