CHAPTER THREE!
[ HERE WITH ME. ]RAIN DROPS SLOWLY SLID DOWN
THE FACE OF THE WINDOW ━━ finn sat in the corner of his dark bedroom, it was half past midnight. the bed sheets were neatly tucked around his bed, he hadn't slept for a day or two. missing luna was coming harder as the days went by without her.it's been two weeks since her funeral, two weeks since finn's been out. he just sat in the corner of his room crying or staring blankly out the window. at night however, he'd crawl over closer to the window, lift up the screen and talk to the moon. he's did this every single night the past two weeks.
"today was terrible, just like the others. i wish i could tell you happier news-
he paused.
"but i guess i just miss you that's all."
the stars and moon lit up his once dark, gloomy room. a light breeze blew in, it smelled of pine and rain. silence filled the air, everything around him stood still and quiet. even his breathing couldn't be heard. it's like time stood still and it was just him alone.
"luna, what do i do now? now that you're gone—
there's nothing."
again there was silence. "this is so stupid." he sighed and shuffled to his bed. "did i actually think she'd talk back?"
he closed his eyes and slid back. memories of him and luna danced through his mind. sad memories and happy memories.
——
"luna! hey!" finn shouted across the school yard to his best friend sitting by the soccer fields. "hi there finnie, you ready to kick some butt in soccer today?!" she grinned up at him. "not today i'm not, come on let's go!" he said taking her by the arm and racing out of the school yard. "where are we going?"
"you'll see." he turned around grinning at her. soon they were at the in the park; their favorite place to go. the two ran around chasing geese like five year olds, splashed in the water, had an ice cream and watched the sunset.
luna sat back against a tree yawning. "it's getting pretty late finn." she said looking over towards the boy with his two feet stuck in the cool spring water. "let's stay a little longer please?" he said laying back on the grass. "alright." she smiled.
soon the night fell dark, both the stars and moon were out shining bright. "i didn't know there was gonna be a full moon tonight." luna mumbled. "full moon's are my favorite!" she was looking up at the sky dazed. she looked like a little kid getting a gold star in kindergarten or a teenager getting their first car.
"i knew." finn whispered. "i know how much you love them so i brought you to the best spot for stargazing."
luna looked over smiling. "thank you." gentle tears slid down her cheeks. finn's eyes widened "why are you crying? are you okay?!" he sat straight up and wrapped his arms around her freezing ones.
"you just make me really happy finn, i never wanna lose you." her voice sadden and more tears came so finn hugged her tighter.
"you'll never lose me luna—
never."
——
"finn?"
finn shoot his eyes open. did he just hear luna? he stumbled over to his window looking out. "luna?!" he climbed out and onto the cold, scratchy roof.
"luna are you there?"
"where are you?" he said desperately.
"finn." he heard her faint whisper in his ears. tears streamed down the boy's cheeks. "luna" he smiled sadly.
"are you really up there?"
he plopped down and curled into a ball. his arms tightly squeezed his legs and his face was buried in his knees. "luna please talk back! give me a sign you're out there somewhere please!— he choked out.
"i'm here finn."
his head sprung up, and looked around frantically then slowly up to the moon; it was full. it looked so beautiful. it shined so brightly just liked luna had.
after weeks he heard her voice again. was it just in his head? no. it was her.
luna was up there, talking back.
