It's the big day: your wedding day. Liam had proposed eight months ago, and ever since then, things have been so hectic. All the details of the wedding have to be perfect and exactly how you always imagined it; you want it to be the best day of your life.
The wedding is in London, so you and Liam are staying in a hotel for the night before you go off to your honeymoon in Paris after the weddig. You wake up at around 8:00 a.m. since the ceremony starts at 1:00 p.m. Right when your alarm goes off, Liam gets out of bed, wide awake and enthusiastic.
"Good morning sunshine!" he says with a smile while shaking you awake. "Today's the big day! By this afternoon, you're going to be Mrs. Olivia Payne!" he exclaims brightly while leaving the room to take a quick shower.
You stay where you are in bed, your mind slowly processing what's going on. Liam is going to be your husband. You are going to be his wife. The two of you will be Mr. & Mrs. Payne. Suddenly, you start to panic. Is this really happening? Are you really getting married today?
While these thoughts run through your head, you decide you don't want to get out of bed. You snuggle up more into the covers, closing your eyes.
A half hour later, Liam opens the bathroom door and your eyes flutter open at the sound of it. His hair is dripping wet and he's wearing only boxers and socks.
"Olivia!" he says, shocked. "You need to get up! I know how long you take to get ready, and this is a wedding, for Pete's sake!" he chuckles while pulling on one of his signature white t-shirts.
When you don't show any emotion, his grin fades. "Babe? Is everything alright?" he asks you, suddenly worried.
"Of course," you quickly force a smile.
"Love, I'm marrying you today, and I've known you for three years. I know when something's wrong." You secretly wish he would stop exaggerating the importance of the day; you're only becoming more stressed.
You question, "If you knew something was wrong, why did you ask if I was alright in the first place?"
Liam ignores your question, walking over to sit on the edge of the bed. "Tell me what's on your mind."
"It's nothing, Liam."
"No, it's something, alright. I can tell." He pauses shortly, but you still don't speak. "Listen, love. I'm worried about you. I only want to know what's wrong. If you can't tell me what's wrong now, how are we going to handle a marriage? I mean, we're going to be married in a few--"
"Will you please just stop talking about it!" you exclaim before covering your mouth with your hand, surprised at your sudden outburst. "Li, I'm sorry. I didn't mean it like tha-" you begin.
You expect him to be upset, but he only chuckles. "Is that what this is about?" he inquires.
"Wh....what?" you ask, confused. What is so humorous about all this?
"You're nervous about getting married?"
"Well...yes," you look down, embarrassed.
He lifts up your chin with his hand to meet his eyes. "There is no reason to be afraid. We're going through all of this together, you and me. You'll always have me for support."
"Yes, but this is marriage. This is a huge deal."
"Listen, Olivia. Just remember something for me, please. We're not getting married because that's what couples are 'supposed' to do. We're not getting married for the huge production of flowers and music and dancing and the big cake and fancy dresses and tuxes and all of the decorations. We're getting married because we love each other. It wouldn't matter if the wedding was in the middle of a desert, or even the ocean. It wouldn't matter when it was, or who was there. All we really need is each other. The whole wedding ceremony is just icing on the cake, if you think about it," he smiles, and you immediately can't help but smile back. You always admired Liam's positive attitude. He was probably a bit nervous too, but the only thing he was thinking about now was cheering you up.
"I just have to wonder if I'm really ready for all of this," you sigh.
"I think you are," Liam states, grinning at you. You smile back and he lightly puckers his lips against yours. "Now let's go get you ready," he smiles assuringly.
------
In the afternoon, you're standing at the altar with Liam, still nervous despite your conversation with him earlier. Who wouldn't be a bit anxious to get married, anyway?
Before you know it, the big moment comes as the priest turns to your soon-to-be husband. "Liam, do you take Olivia to be your lawfully wedded wife, to have and to hold, in richness and poor, in sickness and in health, 'til death do you 'part?"
Liam smiles hugely as he slips the ring onto your ring finger. "I do," he says. His gaze never leaves your eyes.
The priest turns to you. "Olivia, do you take Liam to be your lawfully wedded husband, to have and to hold, in richness and poor, in sickness and in health, 'til death do you 'part?"
You open your mouth to speak, but no words come out. Your mouth is dry and you suddenly feel the urge to run, run far away. Your answer is simple, of course. Yes. A hundred billion times yes. But your lips just won't form the words.
Liam doesn't look fazed at all; he simply shoots you a dazzling smile while mouthing the words, 'I love you.' For a moment, you forget where you are, and what's going on. All that matters is the person standing in front of you, the love of your life, your soulmate, your Liam. And suddenly, you're not nervous at all.
"I do," you whisper while slipping the ring onto Liam's finger.
"I now pronounce you husband and wife. You may kiss the bride," the priest finishes.
Liam pulls you close and passionately kisses you while everyone cheers wildly. When you finally pull away, you embrace him in your arms. Behind him, you see Zayn, Niall, Louis and Harry standing together behind Liam, all lined up in tuxes, clapping their hands. They're all smiling and laughing while chatting amongst themselves, looking genuinely happy for their bandmate.
You take Liam's hand and walk down the aisle with your new husband, feeling as if you're on top of the world. It really is the happiest day of your life, and the best part of it all is that you know there are even more exciting adventures to happen in years to come with the love of your life, Liam James Payne.
