" So...(Y/N).You thought that you could get mixed up in my plans like that and not pay?"

The recording plays as Larry, Sal and I sit in the backseat of Lisa's car and the speaker of the phone is partially covered by Larry's large hand, creating a mini amplifier so we can all hear the wonderful dispute that had happened only a couple of minutes ago.

I can see that Larry pays attention to every word that Rowena and the others spew but Sal seems to be the angry one at this point. Being in the middle of them, I can see his eyes displayed in a frown from behind his prosthetic, which is unusual for him and the resting face that he carries all the time.

A minute of silence is following the bully's statement and we all look at each other, as I get scared at the thought that maybe I lost an important bit of the conversation. Then, after a few staticky sounds come out of the speaker, I hear her voice again:

" Say... how're things between you and Sal? Still good and all lovey-dovey?"

Sal's stance gets stiff at the mention of his name as he stares at the phone, waiting for my answer to come, I presume. But it never does. Larry shifts a little in the seat as he pulls his body closer to us.

"Guess not. Travis did that dumbass good. Go the bait and then s-me. Telling him that you're fake and - that when, in f--t, you're too stupidly nice for your own good. - kinda dumb on how eas-ly he got fooled, but -Don't care about Ugly Face."

"Fuck meee..."Sal says, putting his prosthetic covered face in his hands, ashamed of what the recording revealed.

"Yeah, dude! Told you! Travis is a sneaky bitch and we can't trust him. "Larry adds, sympathetically putting a hand on his buddy's shoulder.

Confused, I glare at the phone while a question comes out.

"What does Travis have to do with all of this?"

Sal's eyes lift up to see me, looking for forgiveness as Larry irradiates a feeling of awkwardness.

"It's nothing (Y/N)..just some old stuff we have unsolved with him."

"No. Let's not lie anymore."Sal intervenes, enveloping one of my hands into his own cold ones.

My head can't help but nod on its own.

"Alright, let's hear."

Sal tells me the whole situation regarding Travis and all that he says makes my heart sink little by little. I can tell that he regrets ever believing him but it still upsets me that he would do that, so in the end, my hand finds its way back into my pocket, leaving Sal with his head hanging low in shame. He fumbles with the zipper of a black hoodie that he's wearing, not knowing what to say anymore, as Larry attempts to break the ice.

"So...I'm glad that's out the way. The lunch break should be done any minute now. Think we should head out?"

"Mhm," I answer shortly, opening the door of the car with a click and getting out.

A new wave of disappointment washes over me, seeing that Sal and Larry for that matter have nothing to say to me anymore. I was expecting at least an attempt at a joke to clear up the waters and cheer us all up since they're the goofballs out of the three of us.
