I stumbled through the trees whilst gripping my arm. Johanna's blade sliced right through it. She turned on me, maybe Finnick will too. Something buzzes right next to my ear and my head shoots up to see a hovercraft in the air. I squint to get a better look and I realise it's not a capital hovercraft. Suddenly the sky lights up in a bright orange glow and my eyes are burning. A loud bang sounds and I am thrown backwards. An explosion, smoke tickles my nose and my eyes are in pain from the bright blast. I lay still on the grass, unable to move as the realisation finally hit. The hovercraft was entering the arena, for what? To save us? To kill us? And the capitol blew it up. Whatever it was doing would affect the games.
"Help!" A piercing scream comes from the trees near me, it sounds like one of the careers. No one I recognise. A cannon booms and footsteps shuffle away. My eyes are still shut so I can't see which person was killed. The capitol anthem plays and a voice booms from above.
"Congratulations! There are now six people left in the arena. Good luck and may the odds be ever in your favour!" The anthem plays again and the voice disappears. Six left, I can deal with that... That must be: Johanna, Peeta, Finnick, Beetee, A career and I... Finnick and Johanna will probably alliance, that leaves me and Peeta, I'll look out for Beetee too. My next target is the career. I pry my eyes open with my hands, everything is blurry and black spots are blocking my veiw. My arm is stinging where Johanna sliced it still. I look down to see a blurry red leg. My vision starts to disappear again and I feel my head hit the ground. Everything goes black
