Liam's P.O.V

I awoke to the sound I've been dreading for the past two years. It's was the high pitched siren that meant my squad was going to battle something I didn't want to do.

I sprung out of bed and quickly put on my commando pants and shirt then pulled on my boots. I stood at the end of my bunk awaiting on orders like the rest of the boys in my unit, none much older than myself.

After everyone was ready general Williams came in and walk to the other end of the room.

"Morning boys, today is the day you finally go to the front" he said as is it was some kind if honour.

"You will be going to the streets if Glasgow to flush out some rebels that have took hold of the city chambers" he continued.

My heart thumped at the destination. We were going to glasgow. Glasgow means Scotland, Scotland means the ghost lions and the ghost lions means certain death.

"This may be our only chance lad, if we lose those chambers we lose our last stronghold in Glasgow" he informed us.

"Meet at the jeeps in ten minutes" he then commanded and marched from the room. I glanced over to Kevin my only friend -if I even want to call him that- and raised a worrying eyebrow.

"Oh cheer up Payne we finally get to show those scots who's boss" he said rolling his eyes.

"But it's the ghost lion" I said as panic swam through my body.

"And we'll put them down the house cats" he said with and evil smile and left the room. I frowned at him and followed him out. On second thought I don't want to call him my friend.

After what felt like forever we finally arrived in Glasgow just out side queen street station. We all climbed out the jeeps riffles at the read as we crossed the street to George's square.

The street were quiet but the after math of a battle was very much present. Car were turned up spouting out smoke and flames. The once beautiful monuments and statues were all but destroyed.

As we creeped closer to the city chambers bodies started to appear and I got this sickening feeling in the pit of my stomach. Suddenly there was the loud crack of a sniper fire and the General fell to the ground.

Windows on the city chambers and cars in front of us blew out and a wall of bullets made it's way towards us. I dropped my riffle and drove behind and up turned car as the rest of my squad charged forward.

As the sound of rapid machine gun fire filled the air along with the occasional boom of sniper rounds. All I could do was cover my ear, bury my face in my knees and pray that all the carnage stopped.

And hoped I survived.
