Inumaru Touma x GN!Reader
Winter was never a favorite season of yours. While the snow was beautiful in it's undisturbed state and the warmth of the holiday season filled your heart with love, after the new year turned its head the once beautiful powder was hard to look at and the joyous Christmas warmth escaped back into its hiding place in your memories.
You sat alone on a bench, watching as the frozen crystals fell onto the ground and melted on impact. It was almost March, and winter was beginning to fade into distant memories. Soon spring would take over, filling the city with flowers and lush green grass for the summer season. Leaning back on the bench, you looked up at the sky, trying to find the stars that would peek out from the cracks in the dark clouds.
Pulling out your phone, you checked the time.
20:40. He was ten minutes late. If he didn't show up by the time the clock struck to the new hour, you would return home, sending him a message that this just wasn't a good time and reschedule for next week. He would comply, wishing that he was able to get off from work at an earlier hour and you both would hope that would be the case. Rinse and repeat.
"It's stupid to wait outside in the cold you know." The voice of your beloved said. You turned your head and smiled. The once wary emotions about him not showing up again disappeared when you saw him. Hair, red like garnets and eyes that appeared bloodshot.
"You finally showed up." You patted at the bench, inviting the idol to sit beside you. He walked over and sat down, hands shoved inside his black coat.
"We haven't been able to see each other in a while."
"I know."
"I'm surprised you still stuck with me."
"I know." Most people by now would have left their partner if they missed dates for months due to work. There should have been arguments about cheating, shouting and tears demanding who the other person is or if they really loved them. Doubt did creep inside your mind and settled itself there, but when you saw him on stage, singing with his three other group mates, you knew that he would do anything to support them, and you would do the same. You always have, and you always will.
He took his hand into yours, rubbing the top of your hand with his thumb. You felt the fabric of your gloves move with his. You've been with him since before NO_MAD, since before he even knew what romantic affection is. Since the two of you would run around barefoot in the fields outside his house. You've been his support from his first scraped knee, to his first heartbreak and to his first disbandment. You've watched him rise and fall, and he's seen you do the same. How on earth could you even think about leaving him when you'd have an entire lifetime to forget?
"Touma," you looked the man in the eyes "can we sit here for a while?"
"You'll catch a cold stupid." He said. You set your head on his shoulder, feeling warmth spread from your toes to the crown of your head.
"I know, but I'll have you to take care of me." You smiled. "Don't even tell me you won't. Your like an aggressive mother."
"You're still not going to let that go will you?"
"Of course not." Touma's hand squeezed yours tightly, as if you would slip through his fingers if he didn't hold on tightly. You hummed, squeezing his hand in return, a silent notion that you would always be there when he needs you.
You both sat on the bench in silence, watching the snowfall and melt on impact. It was almost March, and winter was beginning to fade into distant memories. Soon spring would take over, filling the city with flowers and lush green grass for the summer season. Yet the love you two felt for one another was enough to keep your hearts warm in the seasonal transition period.
