When Iori head a high pitched, girly scream coming from your room, he lower his book and took a deep breath. Based on previous encounters like this, you would come running out to show him what had you screaming in 3... 2... 1...

You bolted out of your room, phone in hand and a giant smile on your face. "Iori look at this!" Iori closed his book and watched as you vibrated excitedly, grinning like an idiot. He placed his book down and sighed. You wouldn't give up until you had completely gushed to him about whatever this was.

"What is it?" You plopped down on the couch and thrusted your phone in his face. It was a tweet by the Pokemon company, announcing the newest game in the core series, Pokemon Sword and Shield. You had been excited about this since the beginning of the week, going on nonstop about how much you wanted this game. Iori knew about your love for Pokemon, it was the first thing he noticed when you two met. It was kind of a given with the (Fav PKMN) charm on your bag.

Iori looked over to see you grinning like an idiot, visibly happy that he took the time to watch you fangirl over the newest core game of your beloved franchise. You always seemed to self indulge when he went on talking about Usamimi Friends, and as an equivalent exchange he would watch you bounce off the walls at the newest Pokemon news.

"Is this all the information given?" Iori asked, knowing full well you wouldn't keep calm about it.

"We got the starters and the region name!" You began rambling on, Iori only catching onto random words like "Scorbunny", "Grookey" and "Sobble" or saying how "Galar better be based on England or someone's gonna get yote". He smiled and listened to you ramble on about the possibility of a new Eevee since this is an even generation number and how you couldn't wait for the rival team and professor to be announced. You looked really cute like this, with you eyes shining like diamonds and with a smile so wide your cheeks probably hurt.

"You wanna play it with me Iori?" You asked, taking the boy out of his daze.

"What?"

"If I get Sword, will you get Shield?" You asked. Iori did remember you telling him you never had any friends you liked Pokemon as much as you do. Your parents didn't really seem to care either, and bought you the games simply because it made you happy but never paid attention when you talked about it. You must have been really happy at having the idea of having someone else to play with. The thing was, he didn't know much about Pokemon, not really caring for video games or television as a kid. But if it made you happy, he would do it. He would do anything to see you smile like this.

"If I have to." You squealed and hugged his side, chanting a chorus of thank you's. He guessed it was about time he added Pokemon to his list of research of modern trends after all.

A/N: Who else gonna get Sword and Shield? I'm gonna get Sword, but I haven't chosen a starter yet, I'm gonna wait until we see the final evolutions before I make my choice
