Chapter 5
Kitty lived in one of the nicer homes in the kingdom. It was two stories, brick unlike most wooden homes. She had three fireplaces, chandeliers, and even a nurse maid. Did she not own shoes in such a nice home? I looked at her bare feet and chuckled as I followed her to her room.
"Help me," she said pulling out four dresses. One was yellow, the other was green, another pink, and one white. They were all more formal then the one she was wearing now. I loved the white one...
"White," I whispered. She cringed her face. I guess she didn't like that one...
"Fine, but just for you," she giggled pulling off her dress. I turned my face...I had never seen a girl naked before...
"Don't be so shy, Tom...I'm finished," she giggled. I turned and she had the white dress on. She released her hair from the braid and shook it out. I smiled at her as she brushed it out.
"You going to wear these?" I laughed looking at the shoes next to her bed.
"You're turning me into such a lady," she laughed putting them on.
"Is that a bad thing?" I asked leaning against the wall.
"No, sir," she bowed and giggled. Her laugh was contagious I couldn't help but smile.
She twirled around in a circle. She was really beautiful.
"Is Kitty your real name?" I asked. She shook her head grabbing some earrings on her dresser.
"It's Kate. But my brother always used to call me Kitty...he died when I was ten," she said looking at me through her mirror.
"I'm sorry to hear that..."
"He was traveling to some place up north. Arendalle, I believe," my heart sank, "The ship sunk on the way there..." I reached out and grabbed her hand. I gave her a half smile.
"Alright, let's go!" She exclaimed regaining her happy self.
As we entered the moggy air, I noticed the sky was growing darker. My parents would want to return to the castle soon, but I didn't want to leave Kitty.
"Where to?" She asked fluffing out her hair.
"Well, I'm not really in the village that much. You choose!" I exclaimed reaching out to grab her hand. I kept touching her, I couldn't help myself.
"There's a balloon ceremony in the square?"
"Then let's go!" I said pulling her along. She made me feel like a child, in a good way. I wasn't really sure where I was going but I followed the other townsmen to the square.
When we arrived, hundreds of people were gathered holding multiple different colored balloons. A man was passing them out. I grabbed two, a blue and red one. I handed one to Kitty and she did a slight bow.
"So we just let them go?" I leaned in, hoping she would hear me. The crowds of people were making it a little loud and crowded.
"You make a wish when you let them go. Last year I wished for a trip around the world...it never came true. Wishes are dumb. They're something we make up in our head and pretend they will actually come true...everyone does it even though we know it's just a myth," she said looking at her red balloon. I gave her a sad smile. I've never heard someone talk about wishes like that...
"Attention everyone!!!" I looked up to see a man on the balcony of a nearby house, "On the count of three, please release your balloons and make a wish!"
"One..." I looked at Kitty who suddenly looked at me, "Two..." She smiled and bit her lip, "Three!" I slowly released my balloon as she did the same. Everyone began cheering and looking up into the sky, but all I could look at was Kitty. She reached over and grabbed my hand. I slowly leaned it, cupping my hand on her face. I gave her a small kiss. Her lips tasted like vanilla. I pulled away and smiled.
"What did you wish for?" She asked smiling from ear to ear.
"I think you know," I whispered leaning in to kiss her again. This time it was a little longer. She grabbed my face in her hands and pulled me closer. I laughed and continued kissing her. Kitty was like a drug and I couldn't help but keep wanting her. She intrigued me, everything about her was interesting. I wanted to be around her all the time, I couldn't help myself.
