Fandom: Voltron: Legendary Defender
Top: Keith Kogane
Bottom: Lance McClain

Keith lounged against the rail, watching the Ferris wheel line inch by. Inch was perhaps a strong word. Despite the wheel's frequent stops, the line didn't seem to be moving at all.

"It's not moving," Keith informed his boyfriend, who was trying to read the popcorn menu of a faraway stand. "I really don't think it's worth it."

Lance turned to give him puppy-dog eyes. "Keith... I would love you so much if we would go on it. It's not like we were going to do anything else, anyways."

"You could win me another stuffed animal," Keith suggested. By his feet was the oversized Kermit that Lance had won by knocking over six milk bottles in one throw (a fluke). "I think we should just go. It's going to rain soon."

Lance scoffed, "Look at the sky! Clear as could be. What're you talking about?"

"My weather app said it would rain. And look, there's a huge cloud over there-"

He spotted the shadow the cloud was casting on the ground to the east and admitted, "Okay, maybe. But come on, I want to see the whole fair from above!"

"You just want to kiss me in a private spot. And bathrooms aren't good enough for you."

Lance's face pinked a little. "Well, whatever. Don't judge my motives."

"Fine. We can go in line," Keith groaned, and hid his smile as Lance blew him a kiss.

Fifteen minutes later, the sky was rumbling ominously and the line was moving a lot faster as people scrambled for cover. Within a couple minutes, they were at the beginning of the line. It wasn't sunset yet, but it had swiftly become too dark to see past more than ten feet. Just as Keith lost sight of Lance's face, the fair's neon lights were switched on in one blinding flash.

Now this was the fair Keith had seen in the brochure. The Ferris wheel was covered in pink lights, and every tent and booth was illuminated with colorful flashing bulbs. Lance oohed, his face lit by magenta light.

Keith tugged Lance's hand to get him to move to the small Ferris wheel car. The operator strapped them in, and they moved upwards. The field of light slowly spread out beneath them, a landscape of magenta electricity made blurry by showering rain. Lance leaned over the side, gasping as they rocked worryingly. The warm rain was getting harder and harder, but Lance and Keith were dry inside the car's roof. Keith put his arm around Lance's shoulders and pulled him closer.

"It opens at the top," Lance said, his voice muffled.

    "I'm sorry, what?"

"The car. When we get to the top, the roof comes up."

Keith glanced outside, alarmed. "We're going to get wet."

With an ominous creak, the car lurched up to the very top of the Ferris wheel.

"Um, is it broken?" Keith asked, glancing out. It was a long way down.

The roof slid slowly up; rain soaked into their hair and clothes. "That part isn't broken," Lance informed him, unnecessarily.

With a poof, the Ferris wheel's beautiful lights went out, plunging them into darkness.

"That's a cause for concern," Keith muttered.

"More romantic," Lance said, and pulled him in for a kiss. The skies opened up, and the light showers gave way for a deluge of warm water as they kissed in darkness, the car swaying and the lights so far below blurring into a pink haze.

Lance had been right. This was so much better than kissing in a public bathroom. Against Keith's will, he really did love him.
