'. . . and that's the story of the of the shellpad reptile,' I said, concluding the story.

As usual the children looked sad again that the wonderful story had ended.

'Tell us another one, Åra Koe,' cried a dark boy with yellow eyes.

I sighed. 'No, not today. We should all go home now.' I start to stand up, frowning. O'Deeka was supposed to be around by now, so we could herd the children home together.

'Tell us of your stay in the first solar system then,' said Teym.

'To the planet called Earth.' Seim winked.

'Yes, you haven't told us that one,' Peim agreed.

The other children agreed anonymously and then I had no choice but to.

'Um, okay. But I want all your attention.'

Everywhere went quiet instantly and I smiled. It confirmed my suspicions more that all of them had been dying to hear the story. I hadn't told anyone save for Miya and Piya and Teisan.

Today was the first time I had been let out of home.

Since we had gotten back home from Earth Piya had insisted that I not step out of the castle. Apparently, the thought of losing me had shaken him up bad (I had always been his favourite, being the only girl).

'That's it,' I said and took a deep breath. Reliving my days back there shouldn't be hard.

'Earth is one of the three inhabitable planets out of the nine that revolve around the first sun and it is filled with humans, as I later found out.

'So, I was abducted by the aliens called humans and sequestered in a house with a family. On my first day there I tried to escape and fell down the stairs, hitting my head. That led to me having amnesia, I lost my memories.' I stopped and looked around again and was satisfied to see that I had all the little ones' attentions.

I smiled and continued the story to the very end.

Silence followed for a short while after I was done telling my story and I watched as they fully absorbed the story. Then question started.

'But why didn't you regain your memory quick enough?' a bright boy asked.

'I guess they made sure I didn't. The always put something in my food to repress my memories.

'What do glassy eyes look like?'

'They're an extra pair of eyes,' I explained. 'Glasses, Teisan called them. It's like when you have eye defects and the doctor taps them with vibrators to correct for you. There they don't have eye vibrators so they wear a pair of glass eyes over their eyes to correct it

'Wow. That sounds like a telescope!' exclaimed a small boy sucking on a candy.

The children laugh at this and I join too.

'Did your memories ever appear to you a little before?'

'Well, the first day, after I lost my memories, they brought this fake album. They had taken pictures with me earlier, so they added some old dust and tears to make it look like I had been with them for long. That time the pictures almost triggered my memory,' I explained. 'But it didn't. They'd fed me that memory repressant earlier.'

'Showing me the album must have been a gamble for them, I guess they didn't want me to ask and then get suspicious because they hadn't thought of doing that earlier.

'And I once almost looked into a looking glass, but their daughter immediately put it away,' I added.

'What was their food like?'

I laughed as I remembered the bear claws and all the mushy food. 'It was really good. The bear claws . . .' I stared into nothing absently, missing the pastries. 'I was always hungry. Their metabolic systems are different from ours and eating their food always made me hungry for more. It was very awful.'

I saw O'Deeka appear from afar and as usual I waved at her to come faster.

'I'm glad the Koe was able to rescue you,' some of the children said.

'Me too,' I said with renewed gladness.

I smiled as O'Deeka reached us and we hugged.

'Where's Nachi,' she asked, looking around after the children said their hellos.

'Followed Teisan to game hunting.'

'But he's so young.' O'Deeka looked worried.

'Yes,' I said simply, smiling to myself. Father had started to encourage Nachi to join the grown-up activities. Nachi hadn't needed more telling. He had always wanted to join them.

I had a feeling it had to do with my abduction, but I never bothered to voice my thoughts.

At my signal, those ubiquitous guards sprung out and started to round the children up to take them to their respective homes.

'Let's go now, Thira. Everything is alright.' O'Deeka gently tugged at me with a frown on her face. She had mistaken the look on my face for something else.

'Yes, everything is alright,' I agreed and stood up.

I smiled, glad to have my family and friends. If not for them I wouldn't be back home now. They were really the best.

I smiled again and took O'Deeka's stretched hand.

I wouldn't trade my home for anything.

                             Fin— The End

I finally finished writing this story! I'm so happy! 🥳🥳🥳

God knows, it took me too long to finish the story already. 🤭
Yeah, I'm a lazy slowpoke, but there was one time I just abandoned the book for months. Partly because I wasn't getting any encouragement on it. 🤧
But it was mostly because I wasn't very serious on the book; it was more of a side project for me, something to dawdle on. I started to feel it to be too straight forward with no plot twist or proper development. 😒

But then I just woke up one day and knew I had to finish this book, no matter what! 😑
Glad to say I'm glad I listened to maself  😇 . . . I know that one day I'll finally bring myself to properly develop this story 😌😌

Back to the story . . .
