Dragon
"So, I'm going to apologize for threatening to kill your brother." I murmured softly to Renegade as she stared out the passenger window of my car. Adison was focused on looking behind us, and Ren was licking her bottom lip nervously.
"Don't worry about it Dragon." She whispered back, the tip of her tongue dancing out to skate across her lip, leaving a streak of red behind.
"Are you bleeding?" I asked quietly.
"It's just my lip." She licked the inside of it, then swallowed.
I mentally cursed myself for my awareness of her, and her mouth.
"I'm going to apologize for getting blood all over your car..." Ren murmured softly, derailing my train of thought.
I shrugged. "Don't be. As long as it isn't yours I won't be upset."
She laughed softly, a soft exhalation of air and a husky giggle, which were totally at odds with her current appearance.
"So, Lord Dragon, where are we going?"
"What did you call me?" I hissed
"Lord Dragon. I think it sounds rather distinguished, don't you?"
I scowled at her. "Renegade, don't call me that."
She tipped her head to the side in a flurry of blonde/brown hair, flashing earrings, and flecks of blood. "Why not?"
"Because I'm not a Lord of anything. And I don't want you calling me one."
She wrinkled her nose, and drew her full lips together in a pout. "Oh come on Dragon. It's just for fun. Besides, it sounds all distinguished and dapper, and I've always wanted to call someone a Lord."
"You've been reading those regency romance novels again." Adison whispered from the back.
"So?" Ren whispered back. "It sounds cool. And fitting. Back me up here."
"Uh uh." Adison shook her head. "He's your bond not mine. You can be defiant and obnoxious if you want but I'm not."
"You did earlier." Ren whispered back.
"We weren't in a confined space then." Adison responded.
"Ugh." Ren sighed. "So boring. No sense of adventure."
She turned back to me. "So, Lord Dragon, where are we going?"
"Renegade." I growled. "I meant it. No more."
She scowled at me. "Jerk." She paused, and licked her bottom lip before biting it. I silently cursed myself for noticing. "Hey. Can I call you Sir Dragon? That isn't quite as cool, but it's better than nothing."
I ignored her and looked up into the rearview mirror to ask Adison, "Is she always like this?"
Adison grinned nervously. "She's worse."
Ren spun around in her seat to scowl at her friend. "Am not! Wait...How am I worse?"
Adison grinned. "Lord Blade, Sir Breck, Sir Dylan... Need I go on?"
"I don't do it all the time. Just for fun. And it fits them all."
"You call Blade 'Lord' too? Does it annoy him as much as it does me?" I asked.
She half turned to look at me. "No. I'm his little sister. He's had plenty of time to accept that I'm insane."
She shrugged one shoulder. "Or he's just got a lot of practice at ignoring my annoying habits. That could be it too."
