The next day, all six of them were in Elizabeth's living room. Not in celebration anymore, like they had planned for today. In mourning of Liz's departure. Shay and Ashton were on the far end of the room, talking. Calum was sitting on one of the couches with his feet on the table, something Elizabeth wasn't up to scolding him about. She was sitting on the bigger couch. On her left side was Michael, sitting with an arm around her shoulders. And on her other side, Luke was laying down and using her legs as a pillow. He had cried himself to sleep.

"How did this happen? No one heard anything. Me and Elle were here the whole time... There was nothing out of the ordinary." Shay mentioned as she approached him the group, alongside Ashton, who seemed to be trying to hold her hand. But she purposefully moved it away from his.

"We heard the cops and the investigators the whole time we were there. They know something but they intend on covering it up as a suicide." Calum said, speaking for the first time in hours. He had to be taking this pretty hard, too, given how he and Luke were the closest in the band.

"Why would they want to cover it up? And if they're ruling it as a suicide then why take Luke's dad?" Shay asked.

Elizabeth took a deep breath before speaking. "I don't care how, but we need to figure this out, guys. If the police aren't going to do their job and find who did this, then we must. We owe that much to Liz"

"You're right. She spent half the tour with us, making sure we were okay. She's been there for all of us, one way or another" Mikey said with a nod of his head.

"So, we'll find justice for Liz." Ashton declared.

Elizabeth still couldn't wrap her head around the fact that Liz was gone. She didn't think anyone had allowed it to sink in, yet. Especially Luke. And that exceedingly worried her, because he was in denial, she thought. Nobody knew how to approach him and every time someone tried to talk to him about the matter, he just said he was fine and went on another subject. Not even her or Calum could really talk to him, at least not since the day it happened. That day, they all slept in her house to keep Luke company, since his house was still being analyzed.

That was another thing that concerned her. The police were still going for the suicide story that didn't add up. But at least his father had been released. One thing they could agree on was that the police were covering for someone. The question was: who? Luke was unaware of the pact they made about finding justice for his mother. None of them wanted to share that in case that he reacted badly. She guessed they'd have to wait until he was slightly back to himself to be able to share their deal.

The funeral was only two days ago, but Luke's words were stuck with her because they were incredibly deep and thought provoking. He spoke about what an amazing woman and mother Liz had been, he went on a rant about how unfair and premature her death was. But what created some uneasiness was how he promised that he wouldn't stop until someone paid for what happened. It worried her, and she had talked to Calum about it. They both thought that Luke was going to start a hunt of his own to find his mother's killer and do who knows what to that person. Grief could make a person do unconceivable things and Luke would regret going down that path.

Given the words her best friend said, it was unanimously decided that they should tell their friend what they were prepared to do. Naturally, the rest chickened out and left her alone with Luke for her to share the news.

"You haven't touched your food." Elizabeth mentioned to her best friend sitting next to her.

"Sorry, I'm not very hungry." he said and looked up at her with a sad half smile.
