"You saw a ghost?" Scott handed Josephine her coffee and sat down at the table next to her.
"I don't know what I saw. There was a figure or shape next to me and it wrote the letters U-N-B-I-N-D"
"Unbend?"
Josephine shook her head. "No. It says 'unbind'." She blew into the opening of the lid then took a small sip of her mocha latte.
"Did you get enough sleep? Maybe you dreamed it." Scott picked at the lace tablecloth.
"I slept for seventeen hours. I think that was plenty of sleep."
"Maybe the smudging freaked you out a little and it just has you uptight."
"No. I thought I saw it yesterday before Susan even got here. I just got a better look at it today."
"You've been under a lot of stress lately. It's just got you a bit jumpy."
"I'm not crazy."
"I didn't say that. Grief just manifests itself in weird ways. The planning, the funeral, the wake – you really haven't had the chance to decompress properly."
Josephine took another sip of her coffee. "I feel like I'm losing my mind. Like the book I found on Edie's bed. I don't remember putting it there after I made the bed. Then this morning I found it on my nightstand when I know I put it on my desk."
Scott stood up and held out his hand to Josephine. "Come on. Let's take a nap."
"I just woke up."
"Well I've been up since 3:30 am and I'm tired. You can watch t.v and I'll sleep."
"Fine."
The two went up to Josephine's room and hunkered down in her queen size bed. It only took a few moments for Scott to fall asleep. Josephine flipped through the channels but couldn't find anything to watch. She turned off the t.v and rolled to her side, pulled up the browser on her phone and typed "unbind" into the search.

Unbinding of Release
Binding traps a person, keeping them from getting ahead and progressing with their life. Binding is meant to hold people against their will to a person, place, or even a frame of mind. To unbind means to undo ANY specific binding process that has been done by another individual or entity.
The ritual of unbinding control deconstructs bound energies and signals of current energies holding someone down or back–preventing them from knowing love, emotional and mental growth, and successfully progressing forward in life in a positive and productive way.
She stopped reading and put her phone on the nightstand. Was she really going to entertain this idea? Josephine started to believe that Scott was right about being overwhelmed with the funeral and just needed to rest.
She curled up next to him and let herself fall back to sleep.
