Naruto Uzumaki leaned back into the leather swivel chair he was sitting in for the past four hours. A messy stack of papers was sprawled over his desk, and empty ramen cup were tipped over. In a fairly large office, to be said. Windows was the wall behind him, a T.V in the room with a brown, leather couch. Only reason everything but the desk was clean was because the janitors came to sweep the room, except the wooden workstation. It was a sight to behold, the desk. A pigsty, one would say. Sun rays poured through the gleaming windows, a few clouds dotted the sky. Through the glass, one could seeing the ever growing city of Konoha, bustling as the day went.
"God damn it! Can't you be cleaner?" A voice said as they entered the blondes office. Naruto rolled his eyes and chuckled.
"Sasuke, you know I'm not good with that sort of thing."
"Learn it, then."
Standing up, Naruto cracked his bones and stretched his muscles, his suit wrinkled from the continued sitting. Wincing at the pain in his shoulders, Sasuke crossed his arms and smirked.
"Wow... what an old man." He shot, and Naruto wadded a ball of paper at him, throwing it violently.
"I'm twenty-five, I'm not old until I'm in thirties or forties."
I saw Himawari chuckle slightly, and I too, held back a smile.
"Guess your an old man..." Sasuke-sensei said with a grin, and my shoulders shook slightly to try and hold back my laugh. Himawari covered her mouth and giggled.
Dad rolled his eyes and continued.
"Its almost strange how your rising the ranks fairly quickly, huh? You were a mere worker two years ago, here at Konoha Enterprises, and in a year or so... you may become CEO." The black haired man replied. Naruto scratched his neck and shrugged.
"Its only because you stayed by and watched my sorry ass."
"Hn. You know, I had to literally run past the guards to meet you here. I can't believe you made me grab you ramen and deliver it to you. I'm supposed to be at school!" Sasuke said, holding a paper bag that contained the delicious smell of pork miso ramen. Naruto reached for it, but failed as Sasuke reached it away from his grab.
"Teme!" The blonde whined.
"No way. You need to start being more productive." Sasuke replied. Naruto pouted, but nodded.
"Okay, this is the last time. I'll get more organized, I promise."
Sasuke rolled his eyes, and handed over the ramen to the scavenging blonde, who grabbed his initialized silver platinum chopsticks, and ripped off the cover. He flopped on the couch, put his legs on the small coffee table he found at a garage sale, and turned his head, smirking.
"Its your lunch break, anyways. Come one, lets watch something." Naruto slyly said, and Sasuke sucked in his breath, wondering why he even agreed to bringing the lunch for his stupid best friend. Or even why he was best friends with them.
"You choose the channel, I wanna savor this beauty, -ttebayo." Tossing the remote to the sullen black haired man, Naruto dug into his favorite food. Sasuke flipped through channels, and frowned as nothing came up of interest. Cartoons for children, weird infomercials, sketchy advertisements, the newscast, chatty talk shows... nothing good.
"Flip back to Konoha Central." He heard Naruto said, and the man raised an eyebrow, confusion on his face.
"Why do you wanna watch the ne-," Sasuke asked with hesitation, but was cut off.
"Just flip back, -ttebayo!" He replied, tense.
The utter seriousness got to Sasuke, and he nodded as he switched the channel back to the news, and he suddenly understood why the urgency, tenseness...
Flashing on the screen was breaking news of a recent murder spree going around. Investigators from the Konoha Police Force were hot on the track of the said criminal. The only reason they could was because of a brilliant forensic scientist, well known through the cities and towns of The Land of Fire, even through the whole country of Japan. It was said that her intense detailing and precision could catch the suspect, no matter how far they slipped away. Well known and famous... she was every future law enforcers goal to become
"We're here live at the recent murder by the well known serial killer of the famed gang group, Taka. Talking with the head medical examiner and forensic scientists, right now, we have a few questions." The camera shot away from the brunette reporter, and landed on a women.
She was around in her mid-twenties. Twenty-five, to be precise. Long, straight midnight hair flowed from her head to her waist, and her eyes shone with a straightforward look of business, but a calming look was on her milky white face. A lab coat was thrown over her lilac shirt. The camera was too high to see what shoes and pants she was wearing, but the top half was enough for anyone to immediately recognize.
Naruto gripped the sofa, his eyes fierce. He was staring at the screen. Every single thing about her was the same and different. Pain racked through his heart, and he watched the women reply to the reporters questions.
"So, what can be determined for the cause of death?" The reporter asked with firmness. The examiner nodded, and with a soft look came into her previously hard eyes as she looked at the brunette.
"At this moment," Naruto drank in the sweet melody of the woman's voice, and his stomach twisted as he peered more. "We can determine that the victum had been stabbed at least seven times on the left side, piercing through the lung. So far, we cannot see any evidence of who had done this."
"But you did say it was the street gang Taka, correct?"
"From the last three murders, we do know Taka was involved. High suspicions are suspected towards the group, but without further analyzation, we don't know if the victim was another Taka murder."
"Is there anything else you would like to add?" The reporter asked.
"Yes. Taka, if you're listening, know this. We don't know where you all are hiding, but we have high evidence against you. Just know... I'm here. And you better watch out. We will find you, sooner or later." The examiner said in a dark, threatening voice. It was enough to send shivers down a person's spine.
"And also, citizens. Please, if you have any information regarding this case or the last three, please contact Konoha Police Department. We would kindly appreciate any tips." The women said, her face and voice returning back to its normal state. The reporter visibly looked nervous and she nodded as the midnight haired women placed a pleasant closed eye smile on her face.
"And that was from Baker Street, live here with chief medical examiner and forensic scientist, Hinata Hyuga! I'm Ali Khan, off to you, David!" And with that, the segment changed to a meteorologist talking about the weather for the next week.
Breathing hard, the blonde closed his eyes painfully and bit his lip. Sasuke watched his best friend hold himself into a small ball.
It happened every single time the beautiful women appeared on air, or when he saw her in town. Driving past the police station. One look at her midnight hair, her small smiles, the look if sterness or kindness in her eyes when watched on T.V. Naruto would only see the one person who he truly loved... and hurt the most. Who he pained the most.
The one person who he would never cease to stop loving.
Hinata Hyuga, the girl who took over his heart.
