Heartfelt Courage

I run out the same way the goons with my parents went. The pathway leads me to the spaceport. I grapple up to higher ground to search for them. They couldn't have gone far in this place... Sure enough, I was right.

I find them walking along with my parents. I slowly tread behind them from above. My mind is running rampant. I want to destroy them... My parents were the best people I ever knew in my life. They were pleasant to everyone they came across, except their kidnappers... They need to be erased... but I know that's not right. I can't do it. I just have to keep them off our backs for good...

I continue to follow them unnoticed. I reminisce about coming here on my mission, my first ever mission... saving Sonic. It seemed like an extremely heavy task for someone like me to do, at least for the time when I first started out as a rookie... I was scared, but I went on anyway. They all had faith in me... I feel like I'm getting déjà vu. I'm on another rescue mission. My parents are in danger, I'm their only hope, and I've come a long way since my time as a rookie. I'm not a pushover anymore, I refuse to back down and cower, and they're gonna know it...

I see them stopping near a cargo train. My parents are thrown inside one of the cars. They shut the door and presumably lock it. They walk up to the front of the train and hop on board. I quietly head to the back of the car my parents are in. I try to open the door. Locked, as I correctly suspected. Before I can think of an alternative method, the train starts up and is slowly starting to move. I quickly jump onto a ladder one car back.

I crouch on top of my parents in their prison cell, so to speak. I look for anything important and I find a latch close to my feet. I struggle a bit before I finally open it. I look down to see my parents look back up at me. I signal them to stay quiet. I lower myself inside. They're hands and mouths are roped up. I untie them.

"Oh, Gadget... You've grown so much! Thank you!"

"We're so happy to see you again!"

"So am I, dad, but now isn't the time for a reunion. We need to get out of here. Stay here. I'll pull you guys up to the top."

"Be careful, son!"

I climb back up onto the top. I lower my hand. "Grab on!" My dad grips my hand and I raise him up. My head is suddenly thrust back and my neck is being constricted by rope. I let go of my dad and I'm squirming around. I fall onto the ground, still being strangled. I can't see anything but the sky moving along swiftly as I lay on the top of the train. I need to get free. I slowly reach for my grapple hook, still trying to free up space between my neck and the rope. I grapple the edge of the train car and I pull the trigger. I fly forward with immense pain on my neck. I roll over. I'm free.

I look over to find the crocodile from earlier on the ground. He gets up and turns to me menacingly. "You shouldn't have come back, little man..."

"I don't back down from anybody! Not Eggman. Not Infinite. Not even you!"

"Sorry it has to come to this..."

"So am I..."

He charges towards me. I back away from him as he's about to throw a punch. I grab his arm. I try to pull him to the ground, but he's hardly phased by it. He slaps me to the front of the train. He picks me up and throws me into the window on the roof to the main controls where the dog is sitting. I land on his lap in the seat and the crocodile jumps down next to us. He throws a punch that hits me directly in the face. I dodge his next punch which hits the dog. I dodge again and the dog is once again punished for it. He tries to slam his arm on me, but he misses and hits the control panel. The controls short circuit.

The crocodile gets fed up and tosses me outside. I grapple up to my parents' car. I'm about to yell to my parents before I'm grabbed by the neck. He slams me against the open latch for my parents to see. "DAD!!! DAD!!!" I drop my grapple hook through the hatch. I'm slammed a few more times before I'm thrown to the side off of the train. I'm hanging on for my life, watching the railway speeding by.
