People are in a frenzy. Survivors reuniting with others and finding their homes. Some are even helping out with repairs and reconstruction. The place might still exude feelings of a war zone, but the people are acting like that isn't true in the slightest. Everyone is so happy to be back that nothing in the world can phase them. Exactly the reason I will forever continue to fight: for everyone to be happy.
I'm standing on the rooftops of Park Avenue, watching everyone that roams the streets. I can feel tears of joy flooding out of my eyes. I feel extremely proud... The last time I felt something like this was when I fought with the resistance for a better world: one not dominated by Eggman and Infinite.
Memories from my time in the resistance come flooding back. My life was ruined by the war and I was weak... but I knew I had the will to fight for what's right. The resistance welcomed me with open arms. I was scared throughout everything I went through: my mission to save Sonic, Operation Big Wave, fighting Infinite, and stopping the sun from plowing into the world... My heart was pounding throughout it all, yet it never swayed me... I was up for the challenge and the job was done.
At that point, I knew it was time to find the lost life that I lived before I joined the resistance. I'm glad they all understood. Sonic, the last I saw of anyone from the resistance, was there to say one last goodbye. We fist bumped and went our separate ways. I felt like a new person... I could believe in myself again. I had the courage and bravery to go on. That's one thing Sonic and friends have done to benefit me for the rest of my life: they fueled me with the fiery drive I need to succeed as a freedom fighter. I will forever cherish that...
My mind continues to drone on. I feel a hand on my shoulder, comforting me.
"You did it, my friend... You did us all a service we won't forget."
Mighty's words flow into my ears. I turn around, still teary-eyed, and I hug him. It was like every other hug I had with Mighty, but this time it was probably the most passionate one I've ever had. I can still barely fathom what I've done for us and what my friends and I went through to achieve it.
"You've done us all proud, Gadget."
"Thanks, Mighty..." It takes me a good minute before I can finally talk without tearing up. "Have you seen Wesley or my parents?"
"Your parents are probably at home. As for Wesley, I don't know. I'll help you find them."
"Thanks Mighty! By the way, you're welcome to stay with me for as long as you want."
"I appreciate that a lot! Thanks!"
We both jump down from the roof to everyone below. They all turn to us and start cheering. They surround us both. Too many words can be heard from them all.
"Thank you, Gadget!
"You saved us all!"
"What have you been doing?!"
"You're my hero!"
I hold up my hands to calm them all down. "Yes, yes. You guys are safe now! I was more than willing to help out, but I want you all to help me too! Where are my parents? Did anyone see where they went?"
"They went that way!"
I turn to where they pointed. It is, in fact, the pathway to my neighborhood. Mighty's judgment seemed to be right. "Thank you!" Mighty and I start walking to my home. We look at our surroundings. Buildings are broken down, yet being rebuilt.
"It's good to see that these people are motivated to bring life back into this place."
"Agreed. Our lives were spent here. I'd hate to see it go too..."
