Menna left around 3:30PM when she heard someone coming. She mouthed a Good Luck to me, blew me a fly kiss and left.

I shook my head and laughed at her childish behaviour. But my paranoia all started to kick in when I heard somone knock on the door. It was Zoot, as I recognised his voice.

"Can I come in?" Zoot asked gently. I could see his shadow lingering in front of the door from under the door gap.

"Yes....," I replied and turned toward the door as he cautiously opened it.

"Your guardian is here," Zoot informed. "I know it's a bit early but the appointment has to go on."

"I'm not ready..." I darted my eyes away from his.

"What are you not ready for?" He stared at me.

"I don't want to talk to anyone just yet."

He frowned,"Are you sure? Because then you'll have to wait for a new appointment."

I nodded quickly and looked down at the ring on my middle finger. He nodded and approached me.

"Do you want to eat something? Are you alright? You can talk to us if you want, you know?" he said with a gentle voice that melted my heart.

I could feel my tears threatening to fall but I stayed strong and blinked them away.

"No thank you. I can't do this, not right now so can you please leave?" I begged looking him in the eye.

"Okay, but we're here for you. Nice ring by the way..."

"Thanks, it was my father's... It helps me calm myself whenever I feel nervous or angry,"I said softly.

He closed the door after him and left with a nod. As soon as he left, Menna barged in. Of course, this is her room, no? Privacy naam ki koi cheez hi nai hai.

"Menna! There's a thing called privacy..." I started.

"So? We're yaar's now, so what's the formality?" she smirked.

I thought about the word yaar she said. It's called friend in Urdu/Hindi. I was sure she can speak the language but I left it at that for now. I was feeling suffocated so I asked her to help me get outside.

"Nuh uh, not possible," Menna said.

I frowned and asked,"Why not?"

"Because your guardian has to give you permission to go outside and that too with a time limit. Look at me, I can only go outside for 30 minutes. Not more than that. I have to be back home in that time or they will call the police with a missing person report," she explained.

"I feel suffocated! Please get me out even for an hour!"

"Fine, I have an idea. When I distract them just try to slip outside unseen," she said.

She opened the door and peaked outside. When the route was clear, she gave me a thumbs up. I took this as a signal to walk outside. She walked first down the stairs while I waited. She gave me a signal to follow her.

When we were almost to the front door the mentor's office was open. Zoot was there working on the computer. Menna walked inside the office to distract him by conversing with him.

I slipped out the door while she was still talking. When she looked back to see that I had slipped outside, she asked Zoot for permission to go outside maybe. I hid behind the bushes until she came running. She huffed but grabbed my hand and dragged me into the forest right to the driveway of the house.

"Thanks," I said as we kept walking into the forest. I don't know why but I felt somehow afraid.

Fear controlled me and kept me quiet while Menna kept babbling about how great her plan was. I felt an unfamiliar aura around me so I hugged Menna. She held me delicately as if I was a fragile doll.

"Yaar? What happened?"she asked.

I felt myself getting paranoid when I heard a noise from the bushes. Menna comforted me saying it's probably just a squirrel or a cat.

However that wasn't the case. After a few more unusual sounds we were both scared.

"I'll go check it out," Menna whispered.

Few minutes passed but there was no sign of her. I thought to go see if Menna was okay or not. I approached the bush and walked around it to see a figure with a rope in one hand and a bag in the other.

I couldn't guess if it was a man or a boy but it was definitely a male. He was masked and had Menna trapped on the ground.

"HAYA! Look, behind-" Menna shouted, but got cut off by a hand on her mouth.

I turned around to see what she was telling me but what I didn't expect, was a blunt force to my forehead. I felt a thick liquid flowing down from my head. My heart beat was slowing down as I fall on my knees.

"HAYAA!"

That was all I heard when my vision started fading away. I started losing consciousness and shortly afterwards, my hearing fades and I collapsed on the ground.
