Chapter 18

They arrive at a two storey building painted light green and white.
"This is my house. I stay here sometimes when I need to freshen up." Bharat says.
They enter the house and Bharat switches on the lights in the house. Johnson hopelessly sits on a couch just staring into nothing. His cheeks are puffy and red so are his eyes, swollen.
"Johnson, it's okay. You have us. We believe you. Don't worry about anything. We will get to the matter of this." Miriam holds her son's hand.
"This is Sagar's plan." Johnson says. "He knew I would want to divorce him but he had drag my name to the dirt so that it would look like I had cheated on him during the divorce." Johnson looks at his mother.
"But you're not sure. There isn't any proof to what you're saying." Miriam says.
"I think Johnson is saying the truth." Rochna says earning looks from Miriam and Johnson.
   Rochna looks at Bharat who shakes his head signalling her not to say whatever she has in mind. Rochna looks back at Miriam and Johnson.
"Sagar... Sagar has an ex wife." Rochna says.
"What?! But your family told us Sagar hasn't married before. We strictly told them we wouldn't get our son married to anyone if he or she had an ex wife or ex husband." Miriam says.
"We know but we hide it thinking Johnson would help change Sagar for the better but it seems Sagar is beyond changing." Rochna says.
"His ex wife was Mary. Mary suffered far much worse than Johnson. She suffered emotional and physical abuse before she successfully divorced Sagar which took lot of time and energy." Bharat says
"Is that why you wanted me to divorce Sagar so soon?" Johnson asks Rochna who nods in response.
"Where is Mary?" Miriam asks.
"Haven't heard from her? Last I heard she changed city." Bharat replies.
"What am I supposed to do?" Johnson asks.
"You have to prove your innocence before the divorce day, before Sagar tarnishes your reputation." Rochna says.
"How?"
"Steven." Rochna says. "How do you know Steven?"
"I met him in the market. He is my friend from university. He invited me to his dance class and that's all."
"He said you both were sleeping together."
"That's a lie. Today is the second day I met him and that's in the dance class if I stayed longer."
"That means..."
"Sagar must have hired him to do this to you also." Rochna cotinues.
"I can't believe this,"
"Well, you heard what he said." Bharat says.
"I need to speak with him."
"Don't worry. I will do it. He could further disgrace you if you meet with him." Bharat says.

      Sagar deposits one million dollars into the account number sent to him. Immediately his phone rings and he picks it up.
"Good work Steven."
"Thanks sir. I hope I played my role well?" Steven asks.
"Of course. Now if anyone who asks about Johnson come to you just repeat what you told everyone today, alright?"
"Yes sir. You can trust me."
Sagar cuts the call snd flings the phone on the bed. He hears a knock on the door and two girls dressed in short tight gowns with heavy make up applied are standing outside.
"Well, come in."
