Max looked at Shawn, but he was playing with his bracelet on his wrist like this conversation didn't involve him at all.

Max looked at Shawn's father with a stunned expression. He couldn't believe, that Shawn, the most handsome and popular guy at school, would talk about him with his family. He was an absolute nobody. Perhaps Shawn was serious about him? It was hard to believe, yet Max wanted to believe it...

"I hope only good things, sir" Max answered after a slight pause.

Shawn's father just smiled.

"So, tell me, what's this all about rogues situation?"

"I believe you were already informed via mind link, sir."

"I was informed... And I have a couple of questions...if you don't mind of course..?"

Max simply nodded his head.

"So, I know what happened with the rogues, and how you forced them to shift. We had witches in our pack before. I've heard the stories, that sometimes they can actually 'heal' rogues. What do you know about it..?"

"I'm still in my training" Max started "so I have a lot to learn. If some magic is performed incorrectly, it could not only damage the subject but even witch himself... So I try to avoid performing very risky rituals. But I know that which you speak of."

They all talked for a bit more. Max explained how witchcraft worked and answered some questions about his family. His father apparently could control all elements, his brother was a void mage and his mother didn't have any powers. Shawn listened, aghast. He had wanted to know more about Max, but didn't know how to ask. He noticed that Max was always very cautious. He assumed that something must have happened in the past to him or his family.

The Alpha and Beta wolves from before were named Jacob and Mark.

"So, what are you planning for the future, after finishing school?" asked Jacob, the Alpha.

"I'm still not sure," Max said.

"How about being our pack healer?" said Jacob.

Max's mouth dropped open. "What..?" he muttered.

"Think about it, okay? Our pack is really nice, and it would be good to have someone like you to strengthen it. Next week is Shawn's birthday. Why don't you come? You can meet the other members. What do you think?"

Max doubted to himself. He really didn't want to get involved. But from the looks of it, it was already too late.

"I will try," he answered.

"Great! Shawn will inform you about the details! See you next week, then."

As Max left the Alpha's office, he found Shawn quietly walking behind him. Shawn thought to himself that he really wouldn't mind Max being part of his pack. He liked his company, and had decided he definitely wanted to spend more time with Max. Getting to know him, talking to him, hugging him, tasting those plump pink lips-

He shook his head. He should stop those thoughts. It wasn't fair to his future mate. He didn't yet know who his mate was to be, but he hoped that by next week, he would finally find out.

"Want me to take you home?" Shawn asked.

"You really think I walked all this way to the forest from my home?" Max raised his brow.

"No, I mean..."

"Well, maybe you run around in your wolf form as much as you want, but people like me use cars. Or you thought I flew all the way to that spot on a broom?"

Actually, that was exactly what Shawn had thought.

Max looked at his expression and started laughing.

"Are you an idiot?" Max was wheezing from laughter and Shawn's face was beet-red.

"You could take me to my car, you know?" Max finally managed to say in between his breaths.
