Chapter 7: A Slight Change in the Morning

"Hey Benjiro , get up! You're going to be late for School!"

"Time check! Its 8am!"

With that, Benjiro shot awake. "Just kidding. It's only 7am robotic laughter."

"Stupid alarm that gets me every time!" Benjiro picked him phone and threw it on the ground with a huge force.

"Haah, that felt so real... I wish it did happen..." Benjiro sighed as he put on his glasses and picked up his phone from the floor.

Benjiro laid back on the bed and thought to himself, "That was such a weird dream..."

This whole love-struck thing happened in the blink of an eye. "It's all just someone's hopeless pipe dream, isn't it?" Benjiro asked himself, thinking about his dream.

Benjiro finally got the courage to get out from bed and did his morning routine. He decided to stay in yesterday's uniform. He packed into his bag the second and third volume of the manga him and Akumu have been reading. As he looked at the clock, it was only 7:25am. "You know what? I feel like being early today." With that, Benjiro put on his shoes and he was on his way.

When he exited the house, he saw Aika putting on her shoes. "Aika!" Benjiro called out.

When Aika noticed, she quickly put on her shoes and ran towards him. "Geez, at least put on your shoes properly..." Benjiro sighed.

"Sorry! It's just that I got excited, I mean... how long has it been since we walked to school together?" Aika smiled.

"Oh yeah, now that you mention it... we haven't done this since grade school! How time flies by so fast..." Benjiro said.

"Hehe yeah! I remember the first day when we came to high school. A senpai came to us to take a picture. I was crying and you and that senpai tried to cheer me up." Aika giggled. "Then in the end, she still took that photo. Ahhhh, memories..."

"Oh my gosh yeah! And you looked like a baby when you cried!" Benjiro joked.

"Du-dummy! You're so mean!" Aika folded her arms and pouted her lips.

"Hehe, then that senpai printed that photo for the two of us! I framed that photo on the wall, do you still have yours? Benjiro asked.

Aika nodded, "Of course I still I have it! It's in my wallet!" Aika chimed.

Suddenly Aika stopped at her tracks. "Aika, are you ok?" Benjiro asked.

Aika kept tapping her hands and feet, hitting her bottom lip and her head was hanging low. Few moments of silence later, she gulped and asked Benjiro , "Yeah I'm fine sen-senpai... I wanted to ask you this for a Long time... would yo-"

Before Aika could finish her sentence, tapped on Benjiro 's shoulders and marveled, "Hey Benjiro -kun! That manga was amazing!"

Benjiro 's eyes popped open and started looking down. He knew that beautiful voice anywhere, it was Akumu . "He-Hey Akumu ! You sca-scared me..." Benjiro stuttered.

"Hehe, sorry Benjiro -kun! Let me start off properly this time, good morning Benjiro -kun! Thanks for yesterday!" Akumu rejoiced trying to make Benjiro more confortable.

Looking at Aika, Akumu chimed, "Are you Aika-chan? You look like your onii-chan, Akira-Kun! Nice to meet you, my name's Akumu Arakawa! I'm in Benjiro 's class!"

"Ni-nice too meet you too, senpai..." Aika mumbled.

"So Benjiro -Kun, about the manga... do you happen to have volume two right now? Akumu asked.

Benjiro nodded and took out the second volume from his bag, "Here you go!"

"Thank you Benjiro -Kun! Let's discuss about the first volume right now! Akumu exclaimed.

As the two people enthusiastically talked about manga, Aika was left at the back keeping her thoughts to herself. Moments passed by when they finally reached school. "Well, see you later Aika!" Benjiro waved, Akumu and Aika waved to each other too.

When Akumu and Benjiro reached the classroom, Benjiro mumbled, "Akumu , do you want to read manga after school today."

Before Akumu could reply, Emica called, "Hey Akumu ! Come here!"

"Whoops! Benjiro -kun I've got to go! See you later!" Akumu smiled and waved at Benjiro .

"As for you who found me like that and kindly called out my name, all I've got is a good-for-nothing unspoken answer..." Benjiro pondered.
